Whether it's just a phrase like, 'Ugh, that is so gay!', or hate crimes, homophobia exists.
I don't think it's fair to treat anyone differently according to their race, religion, or in this case, sexuality. I can't understand why some people can be so unaccepting towards different people. God made everyone, and that includes homosexuals. They have just as good a right to live in this world as you and me.
I've heard of several disturbing cases where homosexuals were murdered because some narrow-minded people didn't like the fact that they weren't straight. Is that fair?
What are your thoughts of prejudice against homosexuals?

I hate people who are so narrow-minded to think that there's something wrong with a gay or bi people. I get so agrivated when I hear people saying crap about gays. My ex-boyfriend was so homo-phobic it drove me insane. He went on about how it's "a sin" and crap, and that it's not Christian or whatever. Well, it's my understanding that you're supposed to hate the sin, not the sinner. Which I don't consider being gay a sin... I think people just need to opne their eyes and realize they are just like anyone else. You can't tell who'll you'll love and who you won't.

I'm not homophobic and i think it's wrong when people hate other people because they're gay or whatever.... but i don't agree with homosexuality. i'm a Christian and so I believe that homosexuality is wrong BUT i totally agree with the saying "hate the sin, not the sinner" that's how Jesus lived. he hung out with thieves and prostitutes and he didn't agree with their lifestyles but he loved them as people. I know some gay people and I have nothing against them... i just have different values than them. what i hate is when other christians bash gays and make a bad name for all christians. i also hate it when people accuse me of being homophobic because of my beliefs. i'm not homophobic. i just wanted you all to know that it is possible to like gay people even if you don't agree with what they do. <br>i hope what i said made sense...

OMG I was just thinking about this! There is this really prejudiced girl in my class, and today during library period she was talking about how awful and sick it is to be gay! She acted like it was the person's decision to be attracted to the same sex! Homosexuality isn't a fad, it isn't a disease and it isn't horrible, it's the way some people chose to live their lives and everyone needs to learn to accept that.

Over at Razz there's a debate in the Religion thread about why homosexuality is "evil". Somebody said that being gay was a mental problem, or something to the like.
WHY can't we accept them as a part of society? Is it any of our business what goes on behind their bedroom doors? NO! No one should be condemned for their love of another human being just because of their gender. Love is deeper than someone's genitals.

I don't agree with homosexuality. I do not hate gay people, I just do not agree with their actions. I respect them as people but no I do not think they have a right to marry or adopt children but that is for another thread.

If there's a guy who's going around insulting gays because they're "sinners," I think that guy's doing the sin of prejudice. Yes, it *does* list homosexuality as a sin in the Bible, and I believe it's not my place as a Christian to like girls in that way, but I still have a few gay friends at school. I don't preach to them, I don't insult them, I just enjoy who they are because they're fun to be around. I don't need to criticize someone else based on my religion because I'm a firm believer in the freedom to choose your own religion, and it's just fine that they aren't the same as me. Larigirl said it best--Jesus didn't insult people that did things against His beliefs, so why should other Christians? One of the points of Christianity is to live up to Jesus' example, and being prejudiced is actually violating that example.

It's a fact that some people are homosexual, and there's nothing you can do about it. It's not something you can disagree with. ~*Esther*~

Esther, I can't say for sure what pettyluv meant by "disagree" (obviously, because I'm not her! ) but I've used that phrase before and basically i meant "I don't *support* homosexuality" or "I do not agree that homosexuality is a good thing" .... so maybe that's what she meant.... i don't know just my 2 cents worth

^^Yep Lari, that is pretty much what I meant...I guess I should have been more clear. I do not personally see the act as morally right or good, but I have nothing against the person.

I have a feeling that this is going nowhere...
But *why* is it "contrary to your religious beliefs"? What is wrong about it?

I think it's one of those "live and let live" things. I don't care if someone if homosexual, I don't care if you are heterosexual. What I *do* have a problem with are those "gay pride" parades. I can understand why someone could be prejudiced though, I really can, just on watching those parades. When you go marching through a parade signifying your being "gay" in a thong and other types of "clothing", it is going to put people off and not going to help your case at all.
