(Ha! Take that Britney, Christina, J.LO, P!nk....etc.) Note, not all female artists are trying to sell their bodies...I mean it's there style. If I had all that money and a hairstylist, and makeup artist, damn right I'ma have some nice clothes that accentuate my body. I mean some of the stuff is ridiculous and down right trashy (like Christina's outfit for her new video...ugh she looked awful...lol) but not all artists are wearing something ridiculous. Example Aaliyah's outfits in rock the boat...I'd wear it, and she wore it because that's her, and other artists wear these clothes because that's THEM and that's THEIR style. |

I think that the girl definitely has a lot of potential. Right now, I don't really know. I think that when she matures a bit, she'll be amazing. But at this moment, she's only seventeen, and I think she's having a blast with what she's doing. A lot of her songs are great. Most of the beat on some of her songs can be defined as poppy, but I think ya gotta actually listen to the lyrics to understand it all. I think Avril's lyrics are pretty straightforward. There's nothing about them that requires you to really listen to closely and think about what she's saying. "Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated? see the way you're acting like your somebody else gets me frustrated and life's like this well you fall and you crawl and you break and you take what you get and you turn it into honesty promise me im never gonna find ya fakin, no no no..." ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Now, what is so "complicated" about this song?? and as for that whole sega thing? well...i don't post there. so i wouldn't know. |

Did anyone see her on the MTV VMA awards? Aaaargh. It made me want to pull my hair out. "DUUUUUUUUDE!" What the hell was that?

I think she's going to end up a two-hit wonder.
When she first came out, everyone was going crazy over her. Now that she's been around a while, it seems like everyone is anti-Avril.

Haha, those are my thoughts exactly. Her music is alright, I don't find it deep or inspiring or thought-provoking. To me, she's like Britney or Pink with a tie.
It's her style that really annoys me, as much as I hate to say it. Maybe it's because everyone in my school dresses like her for shock value and claims to be "individuals". I just think people would have more respect for her if she wore "normal" clothes but stood out for her music. Because, as much as she claims to be against Britney and the like, she IS selling her body, not with cleavage, but with safety-pins and wife-beaters. When most of us think about Avril, we just see an obnoxious girl with a tie, we don't pay much attention to her music.

Yup. She probably will be a one album seller, though... and then she'll pack off all of her money, buy herself a mansion and buy sexy clothes just like the rest of them. ;D

Ok, we all know that she's a newbie and she is just trying to be noticed. I know I called her a poser, but I mean she's .. well just trying too hard. Just like Britney, if you've never met the girl you shouldn't say anything you might regret later. I like the *two* songs that *I have heard*, but i can't really say that I hate her because one, i have never met her, and two, i like two of her songs ( ), and I'm sure there are still more songs that are as good as "Complicated" and "Skater Boy". And some of you are going vise versa when it comes to Avril when looking back on the Britnet Britney thread, |

Oh my...Avril Lavigne. I just *might* like her if she wasn't a total and complete fake. If she dropped that bitchy attitude, and changed her clothes once in a while (that wife-beater has to be getting old...), then she probably wouldn't be that bad. But no, she just has to insist on being the "different" one, the bitchy one. I think that she was a nice break from Britney Spears for a while, but now I'm SO unbelievably sick of her...why can't she just realize her music sucks, she's not punk, and move on in peace?
Okay, and by the way, I've just had a horrible day and had to rant about something I hated for a while...so sorry if I come off as, well, bitchy but I can't really help it at the moment.

There is no such word as poser. It's just something a bunch of people made up to insult others who weren't as much of a certain label as them. Avril is a trend-follower.
Anyway - I personally can't think of her songs as even rock music. They're pop. You can barely hear guitar and drums in Skater Boy. I would appreciate her more if she wasn't such a stuck-up bitch. She acts just like the "preps" she supposedly hates.
