Continuing the discussion from the old Razz on here. Talk about your beliefs, ask questions, discuss. Keep it respectful please. Anyone who is disrespectful in here will be dealt with accordingly.

Heya... well, after hearing from a lot of people that my beliefs were similar to the wiccan way of life (I was raised a catholic but never agreed with the Church), I documented myself and found info about this religion.... and now as I am staring to learn I identify more and more with it... but I still don't know many things.
So I would like to know about how you came in contact with this religion, and about which aspect of the Craft you practice. (are you more interested in ritual, spells, in the meditation or in something else?)
Love to all

Wicca is a religion based largely on elements of an ancient, pre-Christian Celtic religion. A Wiccan is a follower of Wicca. Within Wicca there are many traditions, just as there are many denominations within Christianity. Each has its own unique beliefs, practices and rituals. All share a recognition of the God and Goddess, a respect for nature. There is equality between the sexes. Wiccans' main rules of behavior are the Wiccan Rede, and the Three-fold law. This is the Wiccan Rede: [glow=red,2,300]An it harm none, do as ye will[/glow]
It means:do what ever you want to, as long as it harms no one, including yourself
The Three-fold law states that any good that a person does to another returns to themselves, three times as good. Any harm also returns in three times worse. This should motivate wiccans to behave ethically and try not to harm others.
Wicca does NOT coincide with Satanism. Withes do not worship Satan in any way, in fact they believe that to even name something evil is to give it power, and no one wants to do that.
The main Wiccan symbol is the upright 5 pointed star (called a pentagram), and a pentagram within a circle, (called a pentacle). One point of the star is aligned upwards.
I hope this helped... if you have any other questions, just ask.

We have one boy in my class who's Wiccan. (At least he says he is, I don't think he's really proficient in it, he just started, or converted, or whatever). Anyway, he's been getting a LOT of trouble from other kids, accusing him of not believing in God, worshipping the devil, casting spells on people. He went around telling everyone that he cast a spell on his ex-girlfriend so she would go out with him.
Thanks to the last poster, I understand it a little better now. I wasn't sure if Wicca was good or bad or evil or what. Now I know it seems like a pretty good thing to practice, if that's what you're into.

What the guy you know said he did, appers completly unethical. A wiccan is not supposed to do anything like that.
If you want love in your life, you just say that. You do not mess with another person's free will.
If anyone thinks I said something wrong or incorrect, please say so... I am new to the Craft.

Yes, from what I have heard of the Wiccan form of witchcraft, setting spells to make someone fall in love with you and/or setting spells as a form of revenge is "against the rules", for lack of a better phrase.
And though I am not Wiccan (I am a strong Christian), from what I know of it I believe that Wicca is a very good religion if you wish to practice it. Much of society today seems to associate this particular religion with devil worshipping and spells; when in reality Wiccans worship a God and a Goddess, do not believe in the/a devil, a fair amount do not practice witchcraft at all, and the religon itself is based upon some fairly useful concepts.
I suppose Wiccan has gotten a poor reputation, many a person's opinion being uninformed and steriotypical. But my opinion is that if others can practice their religion without/with few criticisms, Wiccans should have the same right as all others to believe in what they wish to believe.

Thanks Soleluna. I think I understand this religion a lot better now. Before I used to believe that they worshipped the devil in some way. Thanks a lot for clearing this up!

Yes, just to reinforce this- No, Wicca is not a practice of worshipping the Devil. For the reasons that soleluna said. It is based largely on nature. The God and the Goddess (Deity, Spirit, the All) are nature, they did not just create it, they are it. It is a peaceful religion. And yes, the Wiccan rede states: Harm none, do what ye will. However, that is the condensed version. If need be I will hunt down the full version and post it And yes, there are many Witches whom choose not to do rituals, spell casting, and so on. If you so choose to walk the path of the Lord and Lady for just the magick, then you are far off track. Magick makes up less than 25% of Wiccan practices. And just to add - Many people question whom we believe in. We believe in the God (the playful, lustful, wild aspect of the All, often will be called on for protection, physical strength or agility) and the Goddess, whom is often seen in four ways: The Maiden, the Mother, the Crone, and the Enchantress. Together the God and Goddess, the Lord and Lady, Zues and Hera, make up the All. Also, we may use Greek, Roman, Hindu, Egyptian, or Celtic names for the God and Goddess. What name you choose to use to call upon largely depends on what you are calling upon them for. Or your own choice as well... I am still only a young witch. I am still completing the traditional Year and a Day study. October 23 is the anniversery. Just thought I'd add that in, seeing as some others may disagree with my above statements, I still have errors in my knowledge, as well as gaps.

I hate people that try Wicca just to try to cast spells. How stupid is that.

I think some people are just to immature to handle this religion. You know...the ones who just want to cast spells and stuff. They think it's all fun and games.
