Okay, okay. But the way I see it, this 'power' or 'magick', I'm not really sure what to call it, doesn't come from God, correct? Therefore, where else would you get it? The Devil?
This here is what some Christians I know believe so please, please, please don't take it into offense.

Ok, um, how do I put this? God, created the earth, correct? So everything that is on the earth, came from God, therefore, is God. So yes, I suppose, it came from God.
Wicca does not place power to an Evil being such as a "Devil" I read somewhere, and this pretty much is how I think, just not so harshly, that the Devil is just a Christain entity, thought up to scare Christians into doing the right thing.

Riight. Well, believe what you want. No one's stopping you.
The Devil is not thought up to scare Christians...but I suppose that's just my opinion, since I'm a Christian and all. Anyhoo, placing power or magick in nature is not coming from God.
I have a question. Do you believe in God. Or the God and Goddess??

I believe in the Lord and the Lady, each represents different aspects of the All.
But no matter how you choose to view Spirit, and by which name you choose to envoke it does not matter. It's like a meadow with all these different paths to one center. Thats why I referred last time to the Christian God.
And no, the energy does not essentially come from God, but from God's creations...

"Yes, but don't Wiccans think they have powers? Not evil of course....but just some kind of power that they get from nature or something?"
I like Dismal's answer where she says it's not necissarily 'powers' but using the natural energies. And yes anyone and everyone has the power to use these energies if they know what their doing.
"Okay, okay. But the way I see it, this 'power' or 'magick', I'm not really sure what to call it, doesn't come from God, correct? Therefore, where else would you get it? The Devil?" I believe that the magick comes from all around. From the air, from the earth, from rivers, from inside the person, everywhere. And also from the God and Goddess or whatever you choose to believe in personally.
In the religion of Wicca there is no devil. There is no absolute evil. The devil is a creation of the Christians and has absolutely nothing to do with Wicca or magick.
"I have a question. Do you believe in God. Or the God and Goddess??"
I do not believe in the devil. I just cannot believe that there is this being that represents pure evil that is trying to tempt me away from God. I do believe there is a God and a Goddess. I don't believe them to be these pure beings that are perfect. The deities that I believe in have very human qualities.

I've just started learning how to perform rituals and such, but I'm highly confused. How in the heck do you memorize what to say during them?I tried to create sacred space and I had to look at my book to see what to say! Also, about the alter, I'm not allowed to burn candels or insence, first, because I have really bad asthma and second, my dad is a fire freak. So what else can I use?Where do you guys stash your alters when freinds come over? I live in a small Catholic and Christian community and its hard telling people about my religion because they freak out so easily, do you know of a way I can tell people with out them freakin out??
!Thanks!

'Ello excessive_energy2! Ok, first question...how do I memorize rituals? I don't. I don't believe the Goddess expects me to do more than my best in honoring her. She loves us regardless, and as long as we pay respects to her, she won't turn it down or think less of it because it was imperfect and help was needed from a book. Lets see, if you have candles and such upon your altar to pay tribute to the Lord and Lady, then just fine something else that represents Air (inscense, you can use a feather from a bied that you find somewhere, but please, don't go plucking doves ) And something else that represents the element fire (say...a drawn flame, or a scultpure, maybe, of a flame, or something else that represents fire to you) as far as repleacing them in rituals...you might want to ask a more expierienced practioner than I... I don't hide my altar from my friends, they are all either Druid or Shaman or Wicca. But your altar doesn't *have* to look like an "altar". There is not "altar" look to begin with. You can something on your dresser that represents the elements, but it needn't look like a place of such importance as it it. It can be just simply things that represent the Goddess and God in your life, leaves, feathers, pictures, what represents the All to you. I hope I helped a little...

Depends on your ritual. When I first started out (which wasn't so long ago, so granted I still do this) I used the rituals from books, and for the first 2 I just read straight from the books. And then I started to modify them a little to match what I was feeling, what I was trying to express to Spirit. And now, every once in awhile, when I've medated a little, and know what it is I am trying to do, and feel sure about it, I can write my own script. A magickal name is a name you give yourself, or you find, that you use during ritual workings. It can be anything that just speaks to you. You don't have to keep it a secret, and you don't need to keep just one. It's not a thing set in stone. It has to do simply with you, and it will come in time, you may be reading simply and find a name that really strikes at you, and you can try it out and see how well it may suit you. (Note: It if often good to have a name with the same life number as your given name.

Anyhoo, placing power or magick in nature is not coming from God.
How is that not god? Isn't god the creator of everything therefore everything is essentially god?
And a question for you or anyone else who care to answer it.
You believe that magick is wrong or evil or something like that right? Well isn't praying magick?
Say your mother is terrible sick and so naturally you pray to god to make her better. And then she eventually gets better. And you believe that god, with a little thanks to your prayers, is the one who healed her.
Is that not magick? Cuz to me praying and performing rituals are pretty much the same thing. Both are asking a so called 'higher being' for a desired result.

Isn't it silly how alot of people think they're Wiccan by doing stupid 'spells' so they can get their crush to like them?? I saw that in a magazine once, like a long time ago. Then in the next issue they did a story on a girl who was actually Wiccan, saying that those spells aren't anything like what the Wiccans practice. Im not exactly sure what Wiccan is. I do know that its NOT in any way Satanism.

[glow=pink,2,300]You're right, love spells aren't a part of Wicca and neither is Satanism. Satanism is a whole different religion. The main law of Wicca is 'An it harm none, do what ye will'. Which is why love spells aren't a part of Wicca because it's consider harming someone else when you cast a spell to force someone to do something they don't wanna do. [/glow]

Right, you should not intrude into someone else's free will. It is possible, yes, to send out a generalized love working, to attract love, but not a specific person.
No, Wicca does not coincide with Satanism. Satanists belives in no deity, but the power of their own hand. Not, neccesarily that Satan is almighty.

I was with my grandmother today. I got her opionion on Wicca. The first thing she said was ,'Its witchcraft'. Maybe it is,I dont know. But I dont see it that way,so I replied,"No. its not' and she got mad,so I asked her why she thought that and she said, because (someone we know/relative) his son and sister-in-law are Wiccan. And they do spells and stuff. And that its Satanic. I tried to tell her that its not. But since I dont know much about it,I guess I cant argue. So what exactly IS Wicca?? Ive read most of the posts on here, but they do not make much sense to me. So,my question is,'How is it that people think Wicca is involved in Satanism??" What exactly do ya'll do,like spells ,or...practices,what do yall practice, like what do yall *really* believe in??

Dictionary.com states: A polytheistic Neo-Pagan nature religion inspired by various pre-Christian western European beliefs, whose central deity is a mother goddess and which includes the use of herbal magic and benign witchcraft. A group or community of believers or followers of this religion.
We believe in many things, and to ask such a broad question is actually quite difficult to answer, but I'll do my best In the way of the deities we(I) believe in: Prominatley, I suppose, we(I) beleive in the Goddess. The Goddess is often seen in four ways - The Maiden, The Mother, The (Death) Crone, and The Enchantress (Also seen in three ways, being a triune, excluding The Enchantress). We(I) also believe in a God. He is the Horned One, the Protector. And together they make up the All, or Spirit. The God and the Goddess can be called on by many different names, each name representing the caller's personal reasons. For example: You may call upon Aphrodite to bring help bring you a love. In the way of Magick: I use mostly herbs, rather than rituals/spells. But they are a part of Wicca, but I very, very, small part. Magick is basically sending out energies to recieve a desired result. It's nothing Satanic, it is a very peaceful religion, and nature-based. It has nothing to do with sacrificing children and lambs. Yes, it is "Witchcraft" but it's not Evil, and it's not the witchcraft you find in Hollywood movies. Jeepers, I hope I helped. You can PM me if you need anything else, something I can pin point down on...
