1.) State a couple of words that describe a typical worship service at your church. ~Pretty interesting... I don't know how to describe it too much. 2.) What do you think is the most important part of a worship service? ~Getting through to the people 3.) Complete this sentence.. If I could change one thing about my church's worship service, it would be _________________. ~A little more friendly 4.) What do you think?(Give an explanation) A=Agree NS=Not sure D=Disagree a. The best place to worship God is in church. ~D. Worshipping God can be done by yourself, in my opinion. I don't even think you need an organized religion to be close to Him. b. I feel close to God when I worship on Sunday morning. ~A. But there are other times I feel close to God, too. c. Teenagers should have their own worship service. ~D. Masses are for all ages, and they can bring the family together. d. The main purpose of a worship service is to praise God. ~A. We're not there to eat nachos and watch football. e. The time I spend alone with God in prayer, thought and Bible reading is just as important as Sunday morning worship. ~A. In my opinion, it's more important. f. I don't get anything our of sermons. ~D. I wouldn't say they change my life, but they send a good message. g. It is not necessary to "dress up" for worship. ~A. I don't think it's needed. Everyone in my church, even the most religious, avid churchgoers wear jeans. It doesn't matter what you're wearing, it's how you feel on the inside. h. A good worship service should be entertaining. ~NS. It should keep the people interested, but I don't expect Father to juggle while riding on a unicycle.
i. The songs we sing during the service help me worship God. ~D. I really don't get anything out of the songs. *shrugs* Just me. j. The service helps me live the Christian life during the week. ~NS. I'm undecided on this. It obviously doesn't harm me during the week, but I think it's possible to be close to God without attending church on Sunday. k. I would feel good about bringing friends to our worship service. ~A. A lot of my friends already attend my church, anyway.

What does it feel like to be saved? Do you feel like a whole new person and really close with God? I went to church tonight with my friend, and I never go to church, and the pastor called up the people that wanted to be saved so I went up. Some people were crying, but I wasn't. I just felt really scared. Do you think that it worked on me? What does it mean when you are saved? Sorry for all of the questions!

Hi Sunshine: <<What does it feel like to be saved? Do you feel like a whole new person and really close with God?>> Well, you have to beleive you are saved, after giving your life to Christ. You by default, become a whole new person and are close with God. Don't feel bad if you can't figure it all out just yet, you have a whole lifetime. You are as close to God as you will ever get, we all are, now we just have to enter into that assurance. It's not based on FEELINGS because feelings change. One day you feel close to God, the next day you don't, so don't base it in a physical sensation. It's entirely spiritual. <<I went to church tonight with my friend, and I never go to church, and the pastor called up the people that wanted to be saved so I went up. Some people were crying, but I wasn't. I just felt really scared. Do you think that it worked on me? >> First, congratulations! Now, you wanted to be saved, your heart was open and so you let Jesus into your heart. Yes, absolutely it worked on you. I'm the same way, when I gave my heart to Jesus, no bells rang I wasn't jumping up and down, I didn't fall down into a crying mess. I just beleived that my sins were forgiven and that Jesus dies on the cross, rose again from the dead and so went my sins. As for the bells, they did ring out in heaven as they do for everyone. <<What does it mean when you are saved?>> It means that since you gave your life to God, you are now a citizen of Heaven and you don't have to worry about Hell. <<Sorry for all of the questions!>> You do not have to apologize. In fact, keep them coming!

SunShine that is so awesome! Congratulations on becoming a Christian!.... that was probably the most important decision you could ever make. Did you know that whenever someone asks Jesus to be a part of their life there is a massive party going on in heaven with all the angels? It's true, they're all celebrating for YOU! now, to answer your question - some people feel differently when they get saved, some don't. Try not to base it on feelings. just have faith and the feelings will come. If you ever have questions or whatever, you can always ask us.... (you can also PM me if you want ) so.... have a great day! Jazz ;D

I got this by email once:
Oh Lord, I'm really proud of myself today. I haven't gossiped, cursed, cheated, or lied. But Lord, I have to get out of bed in the next few minutes and I'm really going to need your help for the rest of the day.

First of all I'm a Catholic that goes to church maybe once a year... so I'm not that involved in religion. Cause religions a good thing to some extent... but it's not all for me u know.
1.) State a couple of words that describe a typical worship service at your church.
boring, hard to understand 2.) What do you think is the most important part of a worship service?
Umm... i don't really listen so I wouldn't know... I guess "becoming one with God" 3.) Complete this sentence.. If I could change one thing about my church's worship service, it would be not as boring 4.) What do you think?(Give an explanation) A=Agree NS=Not sure D=Disagree a. The best place to worship God is in church. D b. I feel close to God when I worship on Sunday morning. D c. Teenagers should have their own worship service. NS d. The main purpose of a worship service is to praise God. NS e. The time I spend alone with God in prayer, thought and Bible reading is just as important as Sunday morning worship. D f. I don't get anything out of sermons. A g. It is not necessary to "dress up" for worship. D h. A good worship service should be entertaining. NS i. The songs we sing during the service help me worship God. D j. The service helps me live the Christian life during the week. D k. I would feel good about bringing friends to our worship service. D

Hi .spastic.fruit.: Pick out what you all ready know. God is in three persons. God the Son, God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit. Think of it this way, you are many persons but one being. A sister, daughter, friend, neice, student, granddaughter, and cousin. That's not to say God is many things to many people, just an analogy to better understand the Trinity. God the Father is the Creator and oversees the Universe.
God the Son, is when God came to us in human form to live with us and side with us. The Holy Spirit of God is the way He conatcts us. The Holy Spirit is God when He speaks to us, answers our prayers, prompts us to pray, forwards our prayers to God, sometimes He, that is the Holy Spirit who is a personal being too, will pray for us when things are so overwhelming that we cannot come up with our own words.
The Holy Spirit comforts us, speaks to us. It is how God keeps in contact with us. He is the Comforter as mentioned in the Bible when Jesus says he will have to leave the apostles, but told them the Father will send a Comforter.

Toxic did a great job of explaining the Holy Spirit but I'll just add my two cents worth - When i think of the trinity, i think of it kinda like water.... water has three forms (ice, water, and steam) and God has three forms (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).
The Holy Spirit does exactly what toxic said, so i won't repaet all of it.... it's an awesome feeling to know that even though i may get tired and worn out, and even if i can't pray for myself, there's someone who can and will do that for me. The Holy Spirit is such an amazing comfort.

About the Holy Spirit... you know when you ask God to help you through the tasks and you pray to God and ask God to help you? Well the Holy Spirit, in my opinion, is that form of God. He is the part of God that lives within us, helps us out through things, and lets us know about God's presence. The Holy Spirit is absolutely vital in living as a Christian, and, whether we know it or not, we all have God's Holy Spirit within us.
-- 1.) State a couple of words that describe a typical worship service at your church. Changing and helpful 2.) What do you think is the most important part of a worship service? Speaking right into God and receiving from him 3.) Complete this sentence.. If I could change one thing about my church's worship service, it would be
That we ad-lib more often, go by the Spirit more often, and that we use the gifts of the Spirit such as prophecy and tongues lots more. 4.) What do you think?(Give an explanation) A=Agree NS=Not sure D=Disagree a. The best place to worship God is in church. D - you can worship God anywhere, in fact, worshipping God is best done through your life, and for me, church is say, 1-2 hours a week. b. I feel close to God when I worship on Sunday morning. A - usually c. Teenagers should have their own worship service. NS - in my church we have youth services once a month and they do work out because it's centred over us. However, the church is the body of Christ, created of old and young people, so we should all worship together at times, too. d. The main purpose of a worship service is to praise God. NS - we're also there to learn from God and communicate with one another. e. The time I spend alone with God in prayer, thought and Bible reading is just as important as Sunday morning worship. A - Sunday services are great, because we meet with God and with others, but if we only talk to God once a week at church, then we would be stupid to even call it a relationship. The two mix together. f. I don't get anything out of sermons. D - usually g. It is not necessary to "dress up" for worship. A - we worship God with our hearts not our clothes h. A good worship service should be entertaining. NS It depends on what you consider entertaining. i. The songs we sing during the service help me worship God. A - I love the songs we sing, I do the worship with a big group and sometimes help choose the songs j. The service helps me live the Christian life during the week. A - usually k. I would feel good about bringing friends to our worship service. NS - not that I'm not brave enough faithwise, I'm just not sure bringing an unchurched friend to my worship service would be the best way of reaching out to them. Instead, I've invited them to youth group which has a bit of God stuff in it.

Larigirl- That's a great way of thinking of the holy trinity...as water with three forms but one substance. <br> I had an interesting debate the other day about free will. My basic question was... God gives us free will so that we can choose to be with him, so we can have a true relationship with him. But since he knows all, he knows what we will choose before we choose it....why does he even give us the choice. He knows what is going to happen, so why even bother? This is just something I've been thinking about lately. I can't really remember everything to write it here, but if I think of more I'll post later.
Also. I have been given an opportunity to witness to my friend. She isn't a christian, but has been exposed to it. She has a lot of questions though. She is depressed, so she wonders why God lets bad things happen. I'm afraid I'll push her away. Anyone have any advice?
