hey vbkimber07, all the preachers i've heard talk about witnessing have said that it's best to emphasize on what God has done in *your* life. You'll be more confident in what you're saying if you try to stick to personal experience. ....just a thought.
about the question "why does God let bad things happen?" my response is this: if there were no bad times, how would we appreciate the good? If there were no such thing as pain or sickness, how would we knwo that we were healthy? everything has to be balanced. life wouldn't be as sweet without the bitterness of the bad times. If God stopped all the bad things from happening he really wouldn't be helping us... life would be bland and boring. (in heaven there will be no bad things, but there we'll appreciate it because we've had to deal with all the crap here. but anyways...) <br> also, without some bad things happen as a result of something else.... we need those consequences in order to learn.

^^^ Anyway, how can things be all great if we're given freewill? God's not going to treat us like robots. Free will is free will. Full stop.
This lady at my church gave a good illustration on Sunday about the trinity. - To her husband, she is a wife - To her children, she is a mother - To her grandchildren, she is a grandmother It's not very deep and profound BUT it outlines an important aspect of the trinity; God is one person, like the lady, but he is in different forms for different situations and for different people.

I havent been here for a while! On the first page... yes it was the girl who's boyfriend had cancer and posted on advise girls and other boards and was a former Razzer. Thanx for praying. It means alot to her, and it took her to higher places. She's much better now. She told me so. Anywhoo, umm since I haven't been here in a while I kinda feel like a newbe..but hopefully I wont feel that for long. But I thought I'd just post some verses that have helped me. [glow=red,2,300]Psalm 40:1-3[/glow] I wated patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. [glow=red,2,300]Ecclesiastes 3:1-8[/glow] There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embraceand a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. [glow=red,2,300]Nahum 1:7[/glow] The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him, Well hope that some of those verses might help one of you who need peace. God Bless.

Sorry to change the subject, but...back to World Youth Day (info, third page of thread midnight194.proboards6.com/index.cgi?board=00038&thread=1013287453&action=display&start=30)Now that it's about 20 days away, I thought I'd check again if maybe anyone is going, or know someone who is? There are people coming from all over the world. It was originally expected to attract over 1 million people (however that estimate has become lower). Still it will be a huge event.

You Have Hope
You Have Hope! by Kenneth Copeland
"Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast..." (Heb. 6:19). You may be in the deepest hole of your life. But if the Word says you have hope, then, glory to God, you have hope! You may think your circumstances are tearing you apart, but I have news for you. Your circumstances are not the problem!
All circumstances, I don't care what they are, must bow their knee and submit to the Name of Jesus and the Word of God when faith, hope and love are brought to bear on them. When circumstances are very bad, get your Bible and some teaching tapes and go off by yourself until you stop negative thoughts from bombarding your mind.
Gloria and I have done that many, many times. Years ago, we did that where our children are concerned. It was obvious from the circumstances that the Devil was after them and the pressure was getting worse and worse. Finally, we decided to deal with the situation head on.
We spent time piled up in the middle of the bed with our Bibles and our notebooks, looking up every scripture we could find about children. We wrote them all down, prayed over them and made an irrevocable declaration. We said, "On the basis of the promises of God and by the blood of Jesus, our children are not going to hell. The Word of God says our children are taught of the Lord and great is their peace, and that settles it forever."
Then, no matter what happened, we stood our ground in the Name of Jesus. To keep from wavering, we had to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalted itself against the Word God had given us about our children. We had to bring all our thoughts into captivity and into obedience to that Word. All our thoughts!
"Well, I try to do that, but sometimes I just can't help what I think." You most certainly can. God's Word says you can (Phil. 4:8). God's Word tells you to choose what you think, and cast down what you shouldn't think. When you do that, hope will have a place to work. In fact, if you'll guard your mind, there will come a moment when hope suddenly rises up.
Add to that, faith and the love of God, and complete the transaction in the realm of the spirit. Suddenly, that hole you are in won't be deep at all. You can walk right out. When that happens, you'll suddenly know that what you're hoping for is yours. It's yours and all the demons of hell can't keep you from receiving it. You'll find yourself saying, "It's done! It's mine, glory to God!" Speak the Word: Hope is the anchor of my soul. Hope keeps me sure and steadfast. (Heb. 6:19)

that's cool Toxic.... i like it when people post stuff like that because it's gives me a littel spiritual boost in the midle of my day.
here's the lyrics to a song that I really like, I was listening to it today and the words just really spoke to me.... they made me think about how I say I love God one day but then I screw up the next.... this song just made me think about the hypocrisy in my life and it's helping me dort it all out. I thought I'd share the lyrics with you guys:
Am I the only one who feels this way? How could I hurt a friend like you? You give me everything that good and I turn around and do something I shouldn't.
Once again, down on my knees, asking forgiveness for the same old thing. Wipe away the guilt and the shame and forgive me. Forgive me.
Your voice echoes in the chambers of my heart, but something gives way in my soul. I say I know right from wrong. Then I turn around and have to sing this song.
Once again, down on my knees, asking forgiveness for the same old thing. Wipe away the guilt and the shame and forgive me. Forgive me.
Forgive me God, oh forgive me. Won't you forgive me God, oh forgive me.
As you can probably guess, the name of the song is Forgive Me , and it's sung by [glow=blue,2,300]Fear of God[/glow]

^^^ Those lyrics are awesome. Thanx... Anyway I have a prayer request for a little girl named Emily. She has this fear at night. She has to go around and check all the doors to see if they're locked, check if things are unplugged, everything has to be perfect before she gets to sleep. She gets up out of bed at night up to 15 times a night and is very scared. She cry's because she doesnt know whats wrong, she's just so scared. She got better but after going over to a youth leaders house, it got worse. It turns out they werent as Christian at home as they were at church on Sundays and it scared her. Anyway..thanx alot. It would mean the world if you prayed.

Thanks Larigirl. Here's another Email I got.
NEIL ANDERSON DAILY DEVOTIONAL from Freedom in Christ Ministries
FOLLOWING OUR SHEPHERD
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God (Romans 8:14).
I had the privilege of feeding and caring for the sheep on the farm where I was raised. I discovered that sheep aren't the smartest animals on the farm. Sheep need to be shepherded. Left to themselves in a lush pasture, they will keep eating until it kills them. They need a shepherd to make them "lie down in green pastures" (Psalm 23:2) so they don't eat themselves to death!
The Lord often pictured our relationship with Him in Scripture like that of a shepherd and his sheep. Those of us who live in the West don't have a correct picture of what it means to be led like sheep. Western shepherds drive their sheep from behind the flock, often using dogs to bark at their heels.
Eastern shepherds, like those in Bible times, lead their sheep from in front. I watched a shepherd lead his flock on a hillside outside Bethlehem during a visit to the Holy Land. The shepherd sat on a rock while the sheep grazed. After a time he stood up, said a few words to the sheep, and walked away. The sheep looked up and followed him. It was fascinating! The words of Jesus in John 10:27 suddenly took on new meaning to me: "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me."
Sheep without a shepherd become disoriented and scatter. Rams arise from the flock and butt heads to determine who will lead. The ones with the hardest heads win. Without a shepherd, we too are left to the mercy of hard-headed, driven people or we wander around directionless, eating ourselves to death.
The Spirit-walk is one of being led, not driven. God won't make you walk in the Spirit, and the devil can't make you walk in the flesh, althought he will certainly try to draw you in that diretion. You are free to choose to follow the leading of the Spirit or the desires of the flesh (Romans 8:14).
Prayer: Gentle Shepherd, thank You for searching for me when I was lost and for comforting me when I am hurt. I long to follow You today.

sidekick, i think you shoudl take the job! just make sure that you'll have an assistant or womthing so that you're not so freaked..... if you had someone else halping, you'd probably be more comfortable. it would be a good experience for you; i find that i learn stuff much better when i'm teaching someone else, so teching those kids will probably give you more confidence in what you believe and in what you can do. my advice is go for it!
