I go to a pentecostal church and i love it! Lisa - i agree with lilmissstrawberry - try going to 2 churches if you need something more. my boyfriend does that. he comes to my church, which is at 9:30, than goes to a catholic church with his family at 12:00. it works really well because he hasn't given up on his church, and his mom appreciates that, and he gets to attend a more liberal church service at my church.... it's great. (plus i like having him there with me. )

I think you should try two churches at once, but there's still the important factor that is being committed to one church and that being your home church. The question is; how much can you give when you're not totally committed? How much can you serve if you skip between churches? So I would say, go I two churches at first and then choose.

::World Youth Day (WYD):: WYD brings together Catholic youth from over 150 countries to learn about their faith and celebrate it. It is characterized by the happiness of youth being with the Pope and with each other. At WYD 2002, participants will learn how Canadian Catholics live their faith and also experience life in our country. In addition, foreign participants will teach us about how they live their faith and about life in their countries. This year it will be held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from July 23-28, 2002. From July 18-21, it will be preceded by the Days in the Dioceses across Canada for those who want to attend. July 22 is a travel day to allow young people to come to Toronto. For more info, go to www.wyd2002.org. Has anyone heard of WYD? Anyone ever participated in it, or know people who have? Is anyone participating this year?

I've heard of it. We watched a video on it in Religious Education a few weeks ago. I believe a few teenagers from the youth group at my church are going. I'm not involved in that, though, so I don't get to go. It would probably be an interesting experience, considering most teens aren't very involved in their religion (Yeah, I admit, I'm one of them).

Hmm..this thread's been pretty dull lately.
Anyways...here are some questions to answer...we need to get things into discussion here! ;D
1.) State a couple of words that describe a typical worship service at your church.
2.) What do you think is the most important part of a worship service?
3.) Complete this sentence.. If I could change one thing about my church's worship service, it would be _________________.
4.) What do you think?(Give an explanation) A=Agree NS=Not sure D=Disagree
a. The best place to worship God is in church.
b. I feel close to God when I worship on Sunday morning.
c. Teenagers should have their own worship service.
d. The main purpose of a worship service is to praise God.
e. The time I spend alone with God in prayer, thought and Bible reading is just as important as Sunday morning worship.
f. I don't get anything our of sermons.
g. It is not necessary to "dress up" for worship.
h. A good worship service should be entertaining.
i. The songs we sing during the service help me worship God.
j. The service helps me live the Christian life during the week.
k. I would feel good about bringing friends to our worship service.
Just thought that'd be something to do...those are some of the things we talked about during my Youth Group the other night. ;D

1.) State a couple of words that describe a typical worship service at your church.
It's all right. Then again, I don't seek sermons for entertainment value. 2.) What do you think is the most important part of a worship service?
Worship and the lesson. 3.) Complete this sentence.. If I could change one thing about my church's worship service, it would be _________________. 4.) What do you think?(Give an explanation) A=Agree NS=Not sure D=Disagree a. The best place to worship God is in church. NS b. I feel close to God when I worship on Sunday morning. A c. Teenagers should have their own worship service. D d. The main purpose of a worship service is to praise God. Hmm, I think it goes beyond just that. e. The time I spend alone with God in prayer, thought and Bible reading is just as important as Sunday morning worship.
Eeeh, I think they're sort of together. f. I don't get anything our of sermons. D g. It is not necessary to "dress up" for worship.
This is worth a thread by itself! h. A good worship service should be entertaining. D i. The songs we sing during the service help me worship God. A j. The service helps me live the Christian life during the week. A k. I would feel good about bringing friends to our worship service. A

1.) State a couple of words that describe a typical worship service at your church.
Inspiring, friendly, Evangelistic, Interesting, Happy, Fun. 2.) What do you think is the most important part of a worship service?
Worship the Lord and learn more about Him. 3.) Complete this sentence.. If I could change one thing about my church's worship service, it would be _________________. 4.) What do you think?(Give an explanation) A=Agree NS=Not sure D=Disagree a. The best place to worship God is in church.
NS, because worshipping God by yourself elsewhere is also a good thing, because there aren't as many distractions. But then again, when you're at Church, there will always be people there to encourage you. b. I feel close to God when I worship on Sunday morning. A c. Teenagers should have their own worship service.
A, because it's always good to have a Youth Group where you can be by people your own age. d. The main purpose of a worship service is to praise God.
A e. The time I spend alone with God in prayer, thought and Bible reading is just as important as Sunday morning worship.
A f. I don't get anything our of sermons.
D g. It is not necessary to "dress up" for worship.
A, even though I do dress up a little. ;D h. A good worship service should be entertaining.
NS, well yes...but not always. I mean...it has to catch your attention somehow so that you won't get bored out of your mind, right? i. The songs we sing during the service help me worship God.
A j. The service helps me live the Christian life during the week.
A k. I would feel good about bringing friends to our worship service.

Hey Selina21, you don't have to apologize for asking questions, that's what this thread is for. And that's why we're here. 'Kay? Ask away and often. I read the Bible everyday. Pentecostal? I'll let someone else answer that one but it has to do with a type of high-energy worship and church services. The songs rock and the sermons make you think.

Pentecostal means that we believe in all that stuff that happened on the Day of Penetecost..... a while after Jesus went back up heaven, he sent the Holy Spirit to be a comforter to his followers. the Holy Spirit appeared as flames of fire over each discipple's head, and a mighty wind. he also have the disciples the gift of "tongues" which means that enabled them to speak in other languages. Some of them went out into the street and began speaking to the people. Peter (correct me if i'm wrong) gave an entire sermon in another language that he didn';t understand. you can read about that in Acts chapter 2. that was the day of Penetecost and the Penetecostal church believes in the power of the Holy Spirit. we believe that he's still able to move like he did that then, today.
i hope that answered your questions, just ask more if you still don't understand.
