As sad as your situation is, the only person at fault, especially after warnings were put on packages is the person who actually smoked those ciggarettes. If someone smokes and continues to do so, it is their own fault, and people in the end do pay for their decisions.
As Cass said, its not the governments role to protect you from yourself.

^^^ I agree completely. There are surgeon's general warings on every pack of cigarettes, and anyone with half a brain knows that smoking causes cancer. It's unfortunate that people have to die because they made the decision to smoke, but it's not as if the warnings weren't there. People can die from practically anything, but that doesn't mean it should become illegal.
