You do better than......I usually have to write stuff down,or I might repeat some of it... That was literally off the top of my head. I was thinking along the lines of bunny, but it was difficult picturing Eminem as a fluffy animal. And from where I'm from, white's can't rap (Like me) I mean (African Americans) have a true (rapping)) talent. I don't know, I think it's too big a generalization. You're implying that rapping is an 'African-American' thing and I'm apprehensive.

That's like saying only the Japanese can write Haikus. It's a ridiculous generalisation. Anyone who has the talent can write and sing. Even rap.

Yes. But they *were* the ones they came out with it first. So I give them full credit [for starting it]

But they *were* the ones they came out with it first. So I give them full credit [for starting it] That's still a racist generalization. There is a difference between giving credit and specification. Like busybodies pointed out, the Japanese came out with Haiku poems first, yet plenty of people out there write Haikus even if they aren't Japanese.

I agree with those of you who say that he is not talented. In fact, I don't really think that any rapper is talented. Talking fast to a beat is not musical talent. It's completely based on lyrics, and in most cases the lyrics are absolute crap. Eminem's lyrics are full of curse words, and they basically just bash other people. Oh yeah, that's so thoughtful and poetic. </sarcasm>. Also, the fact that a low-life like he is making more money than most of us ever will is really pathetic when you think about it. But I guess that is what our society comes down to. And it's very depressing.

I don't think racial issues should play any role in one's ability to play music, rap, or any other talent.
Eminem being white isn't important.

Actually I don't think that Eminem is the only white rapper that makes money. I mean, what do you call what Fred Durst does? Sounds like rapping to me. And what about the Beastie Boys? They've been around for a really long time now. They might not be on the top of the charts but they make a fair amount of cash and have a good little following of fans.

Yeah. But EminEm isn't [really] like them though They don't sing about killing their wives,do they?? Or make fun of other people. Thats why EminEm is so popular, cause he speaks his mind through his lyrics. And if Fred or th Beastie Boys have songs like that, the I'm sorry because I havent heard them singing like that.

I agree with Cass, and Annie, and everyone else who doesn't think 'Eminem' is talented. Personally, I don't like rap. I hate it. The majority of the lyrics are crap (like Cass said), and wow! They can talk really fast and make rhymes. I think the person who came up with 'Peter Piper' has more talent than Eminem and other rap so-called "artists". It's disgusting to see someone in the public eye talking about killing his wife. Most people would be arrested for threatening someone, or at the very least, disgraced from the public eye. Yet some are embracing him because he "speaks his mind". It's sickening.
Yeah. But EminEm isn't [really] like them though They don't sing about killing their wives,do they?? Or make fun of other people.
Some people also have scruples and morals.
Thats why EminEm is so popular, cause he speaks his mind through his lyrics.
Even if they are degrading, hurtful, and tacky.
I'm sorry if I offended any of his... fans. But this is what I think of him...

Ok, I've talked to many people who, to put it bluntly, know a lot about rap. They know technique, history, traditions, forms, and just about anything else concerned. I'm still learning. Many agree that Eminem could very well be one of the best rappers ever. He hasn't proved it yet, but it's possible. I'm much into the aesthetics of sound, and Eminem has a voice for rap.
"His instinctive grasp of rhythm and language is way beyond... well, any other rapper."
Rappers have talent. Popular rappers now are dumbing their lyrics down. Listen to "Renagade" on Jay-Z's latest album- proof.
Offensive, obviously. I just can't tell if he's serious or satirical. I doubt he's leading a crusade against all homosexuals, icons of pop culture, or women.

Same Here. And I'm not sure if this goes with it,but he *does* have a daughter who he loves very much.

I actually, surprisingly enough, have a lot of respect for his Eminem. I think that his whole gimmick is just there to make people think. I mean, his lyrics about homosexuals and women are offensive, but thank Maude they offend me, because it means I'm still a feminist and a supporter of equality. And Eminem does have positive points - some of his songs are really deep and meaningful. And hey, just because it's rap doesn't mean it can't have meaning!
