Yes it is, like I said to me good lyrics are a added bonus, I love meaningful lyrics that reach out to me and all that but I'm just saying they don't make the whole song.

That does go for cheesy pop love songs too!


I'm sorry I don't mean to offend anyone who like cheesy pop love songs or anyone who writes them but I don't consider that music, Yes the lyrics are somtimes good but the instrumental part irritates me (and most of the musicians don't get any credit, that's if most of it's not computer generated)

If they're not songs then what are they?? Hell Yes they're songs they are just as much songs as some of the other mainstream crap out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


I think the music is more important. I agree with a line from Semi-Charmed Life (by Third Eye Blind) - "And the right four chords can make me cry."

That fits my point PERFECT!!!!!!! like I said in my last post, It could be one single guitar riff that makes me love a song!!

I never sed nuttin like instrumentals are crap... as it seems like uve taken it, instrumentals are songs in a way, but they arent really songs....like poems are lyrics without words....

does anyone call them songs?

BTW for ur info, I listen to the music in a song more intently than i pay attention to the words myself.

I didn't think you said instramentals are crap, I was just comparing it to some *OTHER* crap that can be called a song and asking if that can be a song how come instramental can't???. Most of the people I know call them songs, because as far as I know pretty much anything that is a complete musical peice is called a song, are classical peices songs?? they are instramental. A lot of people say hard rock is not music. Dont even mention metal. Some say synthesised music is not real music - like trance and techno and drum and bass.

Others say rap is not music, that its jst talking.

I've realised tho that there are generally two main types of music lovers - the people that listen to the music and the ppl that listen to the words.

^^ I've noticed that too, to me I guess it's all music though somtimes I have moments where I don't think rap is music but for the most part it guess it can be considered music.

I usually just listen to the music but of course there are exceptions where I'll listen to the lyrics too specially if they are meaningful to me or funny I don't know I like lyrics and all but they don't make the song.... but ya, I'm totally confusing myself so I'll just go un-fry my brain now..........

Raps good...but sometimes i cant stand it when there's another guy on stage yeah who's not rapping at all... and jsut stands there looking hard and repeating words and goin 'uuh uuh'
