Does anyone else enjoy it? I personally think it is the greatest out of all the performing arts. I love to be on stage, and when I'm acting I feel like I really get to shine. (And if you mess up, you can cover it up pretty easily. )

Ugh! That's the same way my drama teacher is. (If you could even call her a teacher!) She just coaches our incredibly awful drama club for the bonus in her paycheck every month. We take the word "Amateur" to the limit... Everyone says I'm a good actress, and I enjoy it. This teacher picks favorites and gives big parts to really bad acresses/actors who don't even like doing it! There's a local theatre that I'm thinking of trying out for next time it comes around. I need some real material to work with.

It's my 4th year. I didn't start getting good parts until three years ago though. (In case anyone cares, it's my 5th year singing, and 2nd year dancing)
I love all performing arts, but with singing, you just use your voice. With dancing, you just use your body. Acting is a combination of the two, and therefore, takes twice the talent.

Acting is really fun. Most acting people are really fun to hang out with too. I have been in 2 musicals and 1 play (our school's are really good), but i've only been an extra/chorus person. I am excited for next year. Maybe I can get a good part. My only problem is I am so nervous at tryouts I don't do very well. Anyone have any tips?

Just take a deep breath, and look at the script before you try out. Think of the tone of voice you want to use, facial expressions, body language. Face and body are a BIG part of acting, not just voice. Take a deep breath, and pretend you're having an actual conversation when you recite your lines. When we're talking to friends, we use emotion in our voice, hand motions, things like that. Pretend you're talking to a friend, and it should make it easier.

I had to act last evening with a difficoult monolouge from the Medea (a greek tragedy from Euripide). The other girl, with whom I had divided the piece, completely forgot her part... and after 2 lines said 'I'm sorry' and ran away, leaving me standing there alone.
I was very disappointed.

I love acting. It's so much fun...I haven't really been in a place to do much, but I have done things like Christmas plays, etc. Last year I was doing a play about a man who suffers a brain hemmorage(sp?) and his spirit has to talk with the devil and an angel and figure out if he's going to Heaven or Hell. I play Judy Laidlaw, a friend of his who goes to the hospital and goes on her own little quest and realizes that everything is in God's hands and everything happens for a reason. It was really quite a good play and a fun role to play. I was the understudy for the devil *which was fun cuz she had lotsa witty comebacks ;D* but I didn't have to be her for the main performance. Anyways, I gotta roll but good luck to all of you...and Sunflowerblue, good luck on finding an angency and going pro

I am in Drama this year and so far it is not going to well for me. I just get so nervous and shy even though I do it every day in front of the same people. Imagine how I'd be in front of strangers. I joined because I wanted to get comfortable talking to a large group of people. Hopefully I will. It has only been about three weeks anyway. Does anyone have any advice to stay calm?
