There is also things like what yu said Pandora. This one girl,one was in 8th grade [last year] had a tongue ring,and I only saw her once. There is nothing anywhere where it says about tattoo's though...
I also think it depends n the teacher though. Fo example,My mom is a teacher [at a high school] and this one girl was wearing something either too tight ot too revealing and she sais something to her about it. Another day,a different girl walked by the principal and he saw her but said nothing to her. Another exampe would be that,like my teacher last yar,gave anyone a 'conduct check' if they wrote/marked on thei hands/arms. This year none of the teachers care what you do [as in marking on yourself] **shrugs**

Nothing wrong with hair color here.....or piercings. Except the tongue. There are strict restrictions on clothes.
*Nothing that ties up *No bellies showing *No knotted tank tops *No 'HOT' pants that are short short short shorts *No Halters *no breast revealing shirts

We don't have a dress code at all... some girls wear bikini tops with a button up shirt open overtop.... sometimes i think we should have a bit more of a dress code because there are some pretty naked people at my school!
as for hair, I've had purple hair for almost 2 years and it's never been an issue - nobody cares.

Larigirl:: Just wondering,are you from Germany?? If not,where do you live ?! Where ever you live,I wanna go there,then no one will have to worry about a dress code...But then again,I guess it *could* be a problem *shrugs* Fizzy:: <<<< *Nothing that ties up >>>> What's that mean?? And what are knotted tanks??

This year none of the teachers care what you do [as in marking on yourself] **shrugs** That kind of thing drives me insane. We had a pretty standard dress code at my school...no halters, no really really REALLY short shorts, tank tops had to hace at least 2 inch straps, no skin showing, blah blah blah and so on. I wore shirts that would show about a millimeter of skin on my tummy, and if the vice principal saw me he didn't waste ANY time telling me "no skin." I mean, I understand that it's against the dress code and everything, but it bugged me because while he's telling me this we have girls wearing halters, one shouldered tanks, and about a million other things they shouldn't have been wearing but were, and nobody said anything to them. But I know if I were to have worn one of my halters, I would have gotten yelled at. Ugh, I hated that SO much. I don't know how the dress code works where I'll be next year, but I'm assuming it'll probably be the same. I think I'd love to go to whatever school you go to, Larigirl.

We have uniforms at our school, and occasionally they will (for a fee) let us come out of uniform. Once a girl came with her hair colored in our school's colors (black and orange), and they sent her home immediatly. Her hair was washout, you know, because it was a one day thing. But then on the last week of school, this girl moved here. She colored her hair pink, permenatly, and no one said anything to her.
It sucks, but it's life. I personally don't see how it is that distracting. I mean, a hot guy is a distraction to, so what are they going to do? Make us wear masks to school?
What's this world coming to?

^^^^^^ I don't know *what* the world is coming to...arghh But check this out:: My fiend,Cilla wore these pants that said something on her butt. She had to call her parents to bring her another pair of jeans/pants... *but* this one boy,Junaid,wore these shorts like on the last week of school and once ot twice in the middle of the year,and it had something on the butt too,and no one said anything to him. Also,two girls--Both my friends. One is rather skinny and short,the other one is not quite skinny. Anyway on two different days,one of them wore a 'tank' top. (If you can put 4 fingers on the 'straps' and it's smaller you can't wear it. Lindy (the one that's not Barbie) got in trouble for wearing a shirt like that,and the strap part was bigger than 4 fingers,and she had to wear a jacket all day!! Then another day,the other girl,Lauren wore a shirt like tha,only it was an actual tank top and no one said sh!t to her. I just think that's unfair. We're all equal!!! {gasp::yeah I know it's a shocker::}

My school used to be one of the more lenient ones in our region but the students began to abuse their freedom to wear what they want. Girls came to school hardly wearing anything so the school and the school board decided to enforce a dress code. It caused so much controversy even though the dress code was very reasonable. Actually, I wanted a far stricter dress code than the one that was enforced. The girls were still allowed to wear tank tops and mini skirts but any shirt that displayed your stomach were against the dress code. Everyone began to complain that they would burn to death . Come on now, it's not like t-shirts were outlawed! Hair colour or chains had nothing to do with the dress code and I'm actually surprised that some schools would not allow them.

I am outraged with my high school's dress code! You can't wear tank tops, you can't die your hair, your shirt has to be tucked in, and other crap I don't even wanna talk about. I live in America, so we all talk about our freedom in this country, but we still have these stupid rules! I'm not saying all rules are stupid, but shouldn't we be more concerned with education then how long someone's skirt is?
I think it's a person's choice to choose what color they want their hair to be! Don't give me all that "distraction" crap either. If your class is boring, a person is not going to listen no matter what someone's hair color is. And the tucking in a shirt... is that really necessary? I mean come on now! As hot as it is here, we should be able to wear tank tops. I'm not saying spaghetti straps, but if you can wear a bra under it w/o being able to see it, they should be okay. And don't give me that "when you work you'll have a dress code"... when you pay me to go to school, I'll abide by these dumb rules.

<<<< so we all talk about our freedom in this country, but we still have these stupid rules! >>>>
I so agree with you. And everything else you said. I don't see the point in a dress code,ecspecially the way you wear your hair and such.
What I think they should start doing is if a kid (darn,I can't say child ;D) Wears something that the school feels uncomfotable with,they should send a note home and your call them,whatever,and ask their parents if they approved of what they're wearing. If the parents approve they should be able to let the kids wear what they want if the parent says it is ok.
OR they could send a note/letter home at the beginning of the year and asking the parents (or give them little check boxes) to see what they think the kids can and cannot wear. I think that is only fair.

^^^^^^^I so agree with you!!
It's like the freakin' schools have more right to tell us what we can and can't do than our parents do!! When I was in 7th grade, they tried to make my mom pay this huge amount of money because I had missed over 10 days of school in one semester...and I had a DOCTOR'S permission form because I had bronchitis, like, 2 or 3 times that one semester!! These school systems are getting totally ridiculous these days and I think there should be something done about it!! I mean, if we wanna grow up and be dumb and stupid, then let us be...that's our right as an American living in a free country!!
See ya, Mandi

Most of the rules at my school are completely silly. For shirts- Tank tops have to cover the entire shoulder, and a snug sleeve. No bare back tops, or halter tops. No shirts that show the least little part of your stomach.
For Shorts- They have to be knuckle length. {of course no one really follows this rule. And you don't get caught unless you butt is hanging out.}
For Pants- Never should the pantleg on one side be folded up. {they find this to be a gang symbol or something}
Peircings- You can't have a peircing anywhere that it shows except for the ear.
Hair- No outrageous colors. Nothing distracting.
