I've already noticed some unnecessary fluffing happening around the boards, and I wanted to bring up the issue.
Excessive fluff posting for the sole purppose of getting more stars ends up cluttering our threads and annoying those who've increased their star count simply by being productive and dedicated members. There shouldn't be much, or any, at that, bumping going on. Messages from the Admin are usually automatically placed on the top of the board.
I think that if the Admin, or Moderators notice a trend in excessive fluffing from a user, that user may be subjected to a warning of some sort, or their posts deleted.

I totally agree. I've noticed alot of fluffing around here too, and I think that with a new board and everything, we should try to keep everything as clean as possible. It's fun to fluff every once in a while, but still, you shouldn't make it your life or anything.

All the fluffing gets to me, it's a pet peeve how all of the people here have so many posts, but you never see their posts in substantial threads.

Thank God for this post... I've mostly just sat here grinding my teeth whenever I've seen posts that have consisted of "Me too!" or " " Has there been any warning whatsoever issued to these offenders? (And I'm positive we know who they are...)

A wonderful topic to talk about. Oh yeah, did I mention that I can go in and chang your post count any time I want (takes away stars). Even if you have the most on the board I can reduce the post count to a mere zero. Just some things to keep in mind before "fluffing".

yup, i've noticed that too. they're trying to get the most posts like its a game or something. i don't know if you're doing it intentionally, but there is a modify button at the top of each post so you will be able to add/change anything that you forgot to.

It's irritating coming to a board and seeing threads mostly made up of 'I agree with you,', or, 'lol.' I'm not saying it's wrong to say those things, I think you're most welcome to say so if you agree with someone, or find something funny, but try to add something more than a one-sentence minimum post.
For those who are merely trying to increase their post count, posting pointlessly, your posts can be deleted almost as quickly as they were posted, like Midnight pointed out.

*fluff* opps, sorry. No, seriously, you guys might wanna losen up a bit. I hate fluff myself, but if you ban fluff, your board won't have much activity.

We are not attempting to stop all fluffing completly. Only excessive fluffing. I can understand a person fluffing every now and then, but when it becomes habit to users is when it becomes a problem. I myself fluff every now and then, but a mass majority of my posts are just "regular" posts.
MORAL: It's okay to fluff every now and then but don't make it a habit.

<<No, seriously, you guys might wanna losen up a bit. I hate fluff myself, but if you ban fluff, your board won't have much activity.>> We're not trying to ban posts which we consider pointless. But users with posting records mostly consisting of ' ,' or 'lol' aren't being fair on others who are earning their stars without fluffing excessively. Fluffing is great in moderation. But if you're not going to bother making productive posts, there's not much point, is there? Would you like to reach five stars, look over at your posts, and be disappointed at the number of snippy posts?

I've seen one member in particular (I won't name names) who has been posting a lot of "LOL's" in several threads. I was wondering if, as a MOD, I can warn him/her if he/she posts these kinds of things in my forums. Thanx in advance.

Thanks for reminding us; it got rather bad at dear ol' razzberry...
Another trick is--if you can't hold a fluffy "LOL!" or "Amen!" in is to add it to a message with substance and quote the person that caused the fluffiness. Still, do that sparingly.

If the problem remains after you have warned the user then report the problem to me and I will either talk the problem out with the user or I will ban the user-which ever is most suitable.

In games, quizzes & polls, and general discussion, you usually can "get away with" fluffing. But if in the World boards they just post 'I agree' the whole time, then I can understand getting warned for fluffing. That's my opinion, anyways.

I've also seen a lot of fluffing. I mean, I know I've done some myself..not for the purpose of more starts though...
So Mods CAN warn people about this? Okay.
