to anyone who doesn't already know this, there is a *harmful* chemical ingredient found in almost ALL shampoos: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate & Sodium Laureth Sulfate. it is also found in certain soaps (ex: "Dial"). once this chemical comes in contact w/ your skin, it will go into your blood stream, & attack your kidneys, liver, brain, & other body organs. if use is prolonged, it will cause Cancer, thus death. PLEASE look at the ingredients the next time you go to the store. Thanx, *Queen_of_Hollywood*

Thanks so much for the warning! I'm going to look at the ingredients from now on. Thanks again! *Whew*
By the way - please don't *bump* a thread unless it's on the 2nd page or beyond. Thanks!

Sodium lauryl (laureth) sulfate can be found in your shampoos, hair conditioners, face and body cleansers, bubble baths, toothpastes, body lotions, skin creams, and many other personal care products. Sometimes it is disguised in so-called 'natural' products (in parenthesis) as a coconut derivative.
Sodium lauryl sulfate is a harsh detergent found mainly in products that "foam." It is used in industrial engine degreasers, garage floor cleaners, water softeners, and auto cleaning products. Because it's such a strong and efficient degreaser, sodium lauryl sulfate dries the skin and hair. It strips your hair of its natural oils. It may even damage the immune system causing the layers of your skin to inflame and separate. Not a pretty sight.
I've also learnt that Colgate toothpaste also includes the subtance to produce bubbles, and I have been using the stuff a long time. The cancer risk is rising - back in the 1980's, the chances were slim, 1 in 8000. In the 1990's, it has dramatically risen to 1 in 3.
I, for one, will certainly be checking ingredients in bottles of shampoos I use from now on.

Where did you find this information? I can't automatically start believing this....I've used Colgate and all of my family has since they were little, and they're fine...Their hair is healthy and their teeth are strong.

Oh! Toothpase too? That sucks.......
Well, so dangerous, really. I never thought I'd have to say that toothpaste is dangerous!
