Not to step on any toes here, but don't you think it'd be illegal or something to have cancer-causing agents in everyday products? And also, why doesn't everyone have cancer then(?), because sooo many people use those shampoos, toothpastes, and soaps. Love, ~The Kitten~

Guys, I found a website that says this is all a myth please check it out. I found it by simply typing Sodium Lauryl Sulfate... urbanlegends.about.com/library/weekly/aa090998.htmI found a website that says this is all a myth. www.pathguy.com/sls.htm Also check this one out. A medical doctor explains that there was an email campaign that has been forwarded to warn that sodium lauryl sulfate is dangerous, is FALSE. Also, just wondering to the person who originally started this topic where did you find this info?

I heard that this was a hoax too. The other common hoax was that using anti perspirants causes breast cancer. I'm not sure how far the breast cancer threat is true, but I do know that one of the ingredients is not very good.

Actually Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate are just cleaners. But you *should* look for a shampoo with Lauryl Sulfates instead of Laureth Sulfates because Laureth Sulfates are pretty harsh on your hair.

yes, sodium laureth sulfate in high concentration is present in industrial grade cleaners. it is a basic chemical, similar to lye, and it is a detergent, meaning it emulsifies or breaks down fatty substances. this or its derivatives are used in almost every detergent, soap, cleanser, shampoo, on the market. while ivory and dove don't contain this, most that actually CLEAN do. it is NOT a carcinogen, however it is used to dilute carcinogenic substances, when they are injected into test animals. it is similar to the corrosive properties of bleach and lye when undiluted. all it does is burn a little when you get soap or shampoo or even toothpaste in your eye. and it is pretty harmless. thanks for being concerned, but i do believe this one is a hoax. *~pobo
