I've been starting a diet (Okay, I admit it, I'm shallow and I want to look good in a gown for our 8th grade formal this year). For lunch every day, I bring a turkey sandwich (no cheese) on whole wheat bread with yellow mustard. Mustard actually has no calories, unlike mayonaisse, and it gives it that little *zing* that keeps it from becoming too boring. Also, like someone said, rice cakes are good too, especially with a little peanut butter spread on top. Eat grapes, strawberries, bananas, and other fruits to satisfy a sweet tooth. Most importantly-- drink water! Six to eight glasses a day. I've actually been drinking nothing but water lately, and not only do I feel healthier, but my skin has become clearer.

Ditto on what Lisa said. Water is so awesome! Another good alternative is to switch from 2% milk to skim, or at least 1%. If you can't jump from 2% to skim all at once, switch to 1% for a while, then go to skim.

I just wanted to say that rice cakes aren't really what I'd consider healthy. They're fat-free and low in calories, but they have basically no nutritional value. They're pretty much just empty calories. So unless you really like them, there's no point in eating them.

DO NOT EAT CINNABUNS!.....
they have about 1,000 calories in one cinnabuns(sp?)
And also.. bananas has a lot of sugar... so try not to eat bananas too much
o.. and instead of coke ( yea.. i agree water is the best... but if u really really need a coke) go for diet coke. They have less than 1 calories ( i think) in one can.
I think i mite just start on this diet thing.. i want to look good for the end of the year school dance too.... ;D

Eating healthy isn't something you do for a while--or something you have to eliminate certain foods for. I consider myself eating at least fairly healthy, and I have the occasional Krispy Kreme. Here are my ideas: 1. Eat breakfast. A bowl of whole grain cereal (like total or wheaties or raisen bran or cheerios or crispix) or low sugar cereal (rice krispies, kix, ect.) is very good for you and it can ward off hunger for the rest of the day. Pour on some skim milk and have some calcium fortified orange juice and you have a good-for-you breakfast. 2. Don't eliminate certain foods, you will just crave them more. Instead, eat small portions of things like chips and desserts and bigger portions of fruits and veggies.
that's all folks. ~KImber

Bananas are actually very good for you. They have a lot of potassium, fiber, and other vitamins, and a medium banana is only 40 calories and practically fat-free. They don't have *that* much sugar in them. And anyway, the sugar in fruit is natural; it's not processed, so it's not as bad for you. You do need some sugar every day.

Choose whole-grain bread instead of white. Even if it has more calories, they are the type that go towards fueling your body, not storage as fat.
Limit your pop intake. Not only a ton of sugar--it has been proven that it is very unhealthy. One group that drank pop every day was compared to another group that ate a calorie-equal amount of jelly beans. The pop group was the least healthy.

Okay, okay...I'll admit it. Eating healthy is one of those things that I've never really committed to doing. I should though, and I'm trying. You know those un-healthy foods are just so...so...tempting. I love to eat. And yes, I eat a lot(but at 106lbs, I wouldn't consider myself fat). I need to start eating healthier, but it's just so hard! Agh!

Yeah, smoothies are awesome! I don't have any recipes, though. I basically put in whatever's in my fridge until it's the right consistency: yogurt, fruit, milk, ice, juice...
