insane.canadian: Drinking too much water at once can upset your stomach (yes it's true) to say nothing of what it does to your bladder. It's much better to spread the glasses out throughout the day.

I hate water. It tastes so plain, and I can't drink it unless I'm really thirsty and there's nothing else around. I love the taste of diet coke and crystal light, so I drink those. They may have some additives in them, but so does probably 90% of the food you eat, unless you don't eat anything besides organic foods. Caffeine does not make you gain weight; that's a myth. It does act as a diuretic (which just makes you lose water weight; it doesn't make you gain any weight), but only if you consume large amounts in it. Soda does not have nearly as much caffeine as coffee. Also, I should probably add that I drink caffeine-free soda. Yes, you're probably thinking, "Diet caffeine-free soda? That probably tastes just like water." But to me it doesn't. I love the taste of it, and there's really not much else I can drink. Crystal light is ok too, but it's a little too sweet, in my opinion.

I love water. I drink it all the time in school. I should get into the habit of drinking more of it though. It would probably help clear up my skin more.

It's all I've been drinking for the past month or so. I haven't as much as touched a glass of sweetened iced tea or another sugary beverage. I start out the day with a glass of orange juice, and it's nothing but water (or unsweetened iced tea, which is pretty much the same thing) from there.
For those of you who can't get into drinking water, I understand. It can be pretty bland straight from the tap or the bottle. What I do is add ice and lemon, which gives it a subtle flavor.
Because it's all I drink, I'm not getting enough calcium... I'm thinking of trying those Viactiv calcium chews to get my daily requirement. I don't want to have osteoporosis at 35.

Thanks Lisa. The ice and lemon was a good idea. I should start trying to drink more water...but it is quite hard at first.

It is good to drink water but too much may harm you. You also want to make sure you eat properly to balance the electrolytes and the water in your body. Did you know that you can die of water poisioning? I learned that in Sports Medicine today and that was kinda weird.

^^^ You'd have to drink a whole lot of water to die from it, like a couple gallons. It's the same as eating too much salt. You can die from that too. But again, you'd have to consume a lot of it in a very short period of time.

I just started drinking eight glasses of water a day like a week ago. I just gulp it down in one breath. Its not that hard to drinking eight a day. I drink one when I wake up, then another one before I leave for school, then I drink one at school, then I just drink them the rest of the day till I get to eight... easy. And my pee does look clearer. I have noticed that I don't eat as much too. When I drink the water so fast, my stomach kinda hurts like its really really full.

i LOVE me watah.i drink at least two pitchers of it everyday.i order water instead of soda whenever i get fast food.actually i hardly drink soda maybe 3 times a month or something, i have a theory that soda causes cancer(u don't have to believe me) if it's not made out of water than what the heck is it, ya know.......so hooray for me . cuz i see it like if we can only last days without water, then drinking water will make you last a little longer, right?

I have to admit, I found it a lot easier to drink 8 glasses of water a day during field hockey season, which ended a week ago. Water is really the only thing that can satisfy you after and during practice...I drank tons of it.
But now it's hard for me to bring myself to drink it. I drink a lot of iced tea...about 48 oz. a day, which is some water, @ least. But I'm going to try and start drinking more water, because of the incredible health benefits.

I drink lots of water throughout the day. In the mornings I start out with orange juice, during the day water, and at night milk. I drink soda if whenever we go out to eat, but I don't really like drinking soda it doesn't taste all that good to me. Or if they have smoothies or lemonade then I order that.

Just a reminder to those who drink a lot of coffee or caffeinated sodas: remember that caffeine dehydrates you, so you need to drink water in order to compensate. Drink at least half a cup of water for every cup of coffee/soda you drink. Oh, and if you're drinking alcohol, drink at least one cup of water per cup of drink. This will help prevent hangovers and even alcohol poisoning. Water seems to be a cure-all now, doesn't it?
