This thread was created to post your ideas for bedroom themes. Please don't just post the theme, but a few DIY ideas for what to do to the room, to make it that theme. To start...
~ JUNGLE THEME ~
* Walls: paint or wallpaper them in shades of brown and green. Look for wall borders of the jungle.
* Cut large palm-shaped leaves out of construction paper or bristol board. Place them over doorways & windows.
* You could also make a palm tree on your wall, by cutting out leaves, and also making the trunk out of brown paper.
* No matter what kind of carpet/floor you have, you can buy a cheap astroturf rug to simulate grass.
* Buy rubber snakes stuffed jungle animals and hang them around the room.
* Buy one of those pillow pals, like a tiger or leopard. They are often sold at stores like Wal-Mart. They're basically a huge stuffed animal.
* Look for a bedsheet set to match the theme, such as jungle, animal print, or just plain green.
* Place cut-outs of tropical flowers around your light switches.
* Paint light-switch covers, and other accessories such as shelves, a nightstand, or even a dresser, with leopard spots.
* Cover a bulletin board in animal-print fabric.
* On a high shelf, place an ivy plant. It will grow - let it get really long until it reaches your floor.
* Any animal-print accessories will look great with this room.

My room right now is kind of a Beach Theme.
~Beach Theme~
-Walls are painted a sunflower yellow. Two walls are solid yellow, the other two are striped white and yellow. Very cute. It reminds me of the sun.
-A tannish carpet or a light green color. Mine is light green, and it reminds me of the sea. Or a blue would be cool.
-My dressers are white, so I drew little Hawaiian flowers, colored them, and stuck them all of the sides and drawers of my dresser. It's pretty cool.
-A lava lamp is a must have! ;D
-I have wind chimes hanging from my ceiling fan. It gives it that outdoor-sy feeling when you hear them(ya, I know I'm weird).

My room is done in an animal print theme, like leopard, tiger, etc. Most of the stuff I bought, but I made some pillows out of this soft leopard print fabric and sewed a fringe around the outside. I also got a cross stitch kit and I'm going to try to do that,it has a leopard on it. I really didn't make that much, but there's a couple ideas...

Mexican Theme:
Paint walls red, border them with a mexican looking stencil. Either buy a cactus or paint some on your wall, put a mexican blanket on your bed, hang pinyota's (sp?) from the ceiling. Hang maraccas on the wall.

My room is all Leopard Print. I'll post a picture later. The bed comforter is kind of a creamy waffle-knit throw, with tons of leopard print & black pillows, my chair is leopard print, i have 2 lprdprint bulletin boards loaded w/ fun pics, my lamp is leopard print, i have even a leopard print KLEENEX box, and i used to have a tall plant named Telula in there to complete the jungly look, but, she died. Anyway, there's lots more leopard print stuff in there that I can't think of to name, but you get how obsessed I am with it. I love my room, it's so cool. In my car, I even have a leopard print steering wheel cover. (But who doesn't these days... I mean, come on people, I invented the leopard!! j/k)

iNsAnE.cAnAdIaN also for your Mexican theme (if you want your room to look like some here in New Mexico) you can get some Mexican pottery and some crosses (everyone has them here) Also keep the colors in your room natrul, think desert colors. Or paint them very bright and get colorful wooden figures of animals. You can also paint your door frame and windows blue (to keep the wicths out) And if you can find little Mexican dolls or chile ristras(sp?) that would look really good. Also pictures and figures of Our Lady of Guadalupe (the virgin Mary) and any of the Catholic saints. My room doesn't look like that and I really don't know any teenagers who would want a room like that but it looks really pretty. Check out Behind Adobe Walls. And if anyone does their room like that post and tell me what it looks like.

hey i haven't actually done this yet but i'm doing it this weekend.... i'm painting my walls a light lavendar, and then the window sill, moldings, & doors are going to be painted a deeper (think crayola) purple. i will have a comforter that maches the darker purple but get this... it's zebra print! (u know like instead of white there's purple) & then i have two furry accent pillows that are regular black & white zebra print to go on the bed. my furniture's just normal (dark oak i think?) but i want to find a butterfly chair that's either dark purple, lavendar, or zebra print. that would make my room so incredibly complete!

CELESTIAL THEMED ROOM *Blue, yellow, dark purple, or white walls. Something that goes with the theme. * Glow in the dark stars. My room used to be celestial themed and I still have my blue glow stars. I love them - they're so cool when I'm going to sleep at night. *Wall art with suns, moons, stars, etc is very important. If you can't afford paintings, which most of us can't, look in magazines, or on your computer (for printable graphics) or new age shops for posters. *When my room was celestial theme, I took silver, gold, and blue Christmas garland and used it around my room. It's a little late to be buying garland now, but come December 26th it'll be super cheap. For now, see if you have any stashed in your Xmas decorations. *Other accessories that match the theme - pillows, candles, beads, etc. Good luck!

/\ With a dark wall, you can make your own galaxy. Take a large paintbrush, about 2 inches wide and swirl it. Start with a little paint in the middle and make an oval disk. While the brush is losing paint, bring the edges out in an ever-increasing oval then with some swirls, of the brush, dry-brush the galaxy's arms. Do it with quick strokes.
Next, take a toothbrush, or a brush with densly packed and stiff bristles. Dip it into some white or glow-in-the- dark paint then with your thumb, flick the paint onto the walls and ceiling. Instant stars.
Next, use a brush and paint a planet, except do it by painting a curved line then fading the color into the background.
Won't look like much up close, but from a distance, this should give you a 3-D effect of depth and distance. Might look photo-realistic too. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not really a theme, but one wall in my apartment has stuff from the trips I've been on, and stuff I've been given. A sombrero, mola, couple of masks, flute from the Cayman islands, sarape', boomerang, some wooden shoes, stuff like that.

Ohh... I finally think I found a theme for me. A red and zebra themed ~ Okay.. I've decided to use a simple shiny/metallic-like red comforter that my moms gonna make sew me. Use zebra printed sheet sets to set the "zebra themed" room. Get some big pillows that are Zebra striped that doesn't have to match the sheets. For the second set of pillows I'm gonna have my mom make me some red pillows and add some black accents... like buttons are letters that spell out your name or nickname to add personality. Since I have a black canopy bed, I've decided to make use of it. I'm gonna take white tulle and hang it on each of the four bed post and tie and the top and at the bottom, right above the bed skirt with zebra striped ribbon. The bed skirt will be zebra striped as well. Also I'll add pillows that are red, black, and zebra striped. My moms friend is making me a message board with red trim and zebra striped. On my black bench I'll place my white tiger on it that will fit in with the zebra striped theme. Ooohh... I have tons more ideas for my soon-to-be-fabulous room !! I can't wait

^^^ my main advice would be just to go with adding color. since you said that your room is pretty much all white, i would go with solid colors to accentuate each other. such as putting some rugs down on the floor, cool curtains, a nice lampshade....anything. you could also put some folded blankets at the end of your bed, or posters on your walls, and picture frames with photos of your friends/whoever on your desk. little boxes where you could put your jewlery or notes from your friends would look nice too, and some cool pencil holders. just choose whatever colors you want, from pale pinks, blues, greens, and yellows, to bold reds, oranges, and yellows. whatever suits you, and whatever you like, just go with it.
