let me list some bands: The Hives The White Stripes The Vines The Strokes Phantom Planet Ash The Actual Tigers Sloan U2 take a listen to those bands...dont they have some of the same style? theyre those kind of retro-ey bands that follow in the footsteps of The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. now, THIS is my favorite type music. these are not old artists, theyre fairly new and contemporary. hasnt anyone been noticing that theres more of these kinds of bands popping up and going into mainstream/charts? or is it just me? you know the cute guy that plays Michael in the Princess Diaries movie? thats Robert Carmine, and he has a band...similar to this style. check them out, they are awesome! Rooney at www.rooney-band.com do you like this style? what would you call this type of music? what are some other bands similar to this style of music?

Oh I love that song Last Night by The Strokes. They have another song out but I didn't really like it that much. I also *love* that song Fell in Love With A Girl by The White Stripes. That video is awsome!! I've heard one or two songs by...now I can't remember, wither The Vines or The Hives, but neither was that good (to me) I've never heard anything by Phantom Planet-Only the name. ;D I've never even heard of 'Ash','The Actualy Tigers',and 'Sloan'. They must be deep in the dirt And finally U2. I've heard a lot of songs by them but I don't really like their music, maybe one or two songs I like by them or one part in some song, but I don't really like them that much. ~~~~~~Heather,(Edward Furlong,Mike Shinoda,Chester Bennington,KidRock & Joe C. LOVER!!!!!! Linkin Park) P.S It may be just me,but I don't think The Strokes and U2 sound alike. In any way. But that's just me ;D

GAH! YAY! My favorite band is listed. PHANTOM PLANET! Phan club member #0369 too. Check out their new album, The Guest, they totally rock my socks off. And they rock live too, so if you can catch them on tour, I highly recommend it. Likeafox, when you said Robert Carmine, I was wondering who you were referring too. I still refer to him as 'Robert Schwartzman', even though he changed his surname! LOL And yes, Rooney rocks as well. Another band I would recommend is Maroon5, formally known as Kara's Flowers. I have their first CD (I love it), but have heard that they made a complete 180 sound wise, so I don't know exactly how they sound now. Need sound clips...

YES! First person to know that it's a PP song! WOOHOO! LOL And yes, they are brothers. Music's great, have you seen them live? Man, they rock my socks off. I got the band's autographs when they came to my city last year, best night of my life. Jason's better looking in person (and he is a sweetheart too), but Sam (Farrar) was the nicest (and gorgeous to boot, hey, I have eyes ya know ). Gave me a big bear hug. I want to see them live again. LOL

I love these bands, well, the ones I've heard anyway. (Phantom Planet totally rocks my socks.) I don't know what the style would be called, but it's definately good.
I'm listening to PP now, actually. They totally kick butt! I've just gotten into them recently, but I like what I hear. They sound similar to Rooney. This is what I love about Rock music... There are so many different, unique sounds!

There are so many different, unique sounds! I've heard it described (or what I would describe them as) as power pop... They're unique... They've got an obvious 70's/80's influence but are modern too... Geez, don't get me started on PP. I won't stop. LOL Wonderful group... And I want to see Rooney live as well. I'm kind of disappointed, cuz PP is coming to my city this year, and since they're touring with Elvis Costello, tickets are costing 35-45 bucks (which is a big hike, considering I paid approx. $12 for my ticket when they came last year) and it's the day before all my friends are leaving for college (which means they can't go either). Ah well. Life will go on.
