Hi everyone,
Well, I'm curious to know if anyone in here has ever read or even heard of this story, the Ramayana. It's a story from India that is an epic much like the Odyssey, the Illiad, or Paradise Lost, about a prince, Prince Rama, who is heir to the throne but gets exiled for 14 years. During the time of his exile, his beloved wife, Sita, gets abducted by the most powerful demon, Ravana, who wants to take her as his own wife. She remained faithful to Rama while she was in capture. Ravana never violated her w/out her consent because he had a cursed in which he can never force himself on a woman without bring death to himself. But when Rama does recover his wife after a great tremendous battle with Ravana, he questions her faithfullness.
The story addresses life issues, taught Rama about himself, life and the trials of hardship. After his exile period, Rama returns to his kingdom and become the greatest King and role model for his people.
It's an extrordinary tale of mythical beings and test of the the human heart and wills.
So, yeah, is anyone in here familiar with the story?

Yeah, I'm vaguely familiar with the story. Interesting piece of info- Ravana was supposed to be a Sri Lankan king. I'm Sri Lankan too and I get reminded of Ravana being my bretheren quite often by my Indian friends (who are on Ram's side, btw). Heh.
