Anyone here like to take pictures? It's one of my favorite art mediums. I like to take pictures of the moon, lightning, and other unusual objects. It's easy if you have the equipment. I have a used Olympus OM-10 and an Olympus OM-PC 35mm cameras. I have all the lenses for it and some filters.
So who here likes to play with cameras and film? What techniques do you know and like to use?
Need advice on taking certain pictures? Here's the place to ask.

I love black and white photographs! It's harder to capture emotion, but when the picture does have a mood, it's more more thought-provoking. As nice as color photographs are, they leave nothing to the imagination.
I enjoy taking candid shots... Maybe a busy city street or children at play. Just catching people at random times, it's so unrehearsed and real.
I don't have cameras that I really toy around with... Good ol' disposable Kodak cameras for me. Ah well, still does the job.

Hey disposable cameras are good too, at least they never fail you. Ever try those underwater one's, they're not bad.
I like black and white photos too, the mood like you said is so interesting, it's almost like the picture is more alive. I think it's because you try to imagine the scene and because your working at it, you see more than just an image. You see more because you have to do some of the work, and you look for details that color photos might not bring out.

I've been wanting to get into it it (ever since that show 'Caitlins Way' came on Nickeloadeon ; ) But I always thought you'd have to have one of those old expensive camaras...But after I read this, then I guess I can do it with my disposable ones...COOL!!

Well, you can use disposables, but at $10.00 bucks a pop and developing, and after buying ten cameras, you've just burned through $120.00--$150.00 That kind of money can buy a REALLY nice used camera at a camera store, like the kind where you can change lenses. Or a nice new camera with some auto features and zoom lens.
Take those Advantix cameras. Very good, but the filmn is very expensive for it, and I don't see a big difference between that and "regular" film. It's all in the ease of loading, but it's not that hard to load film anyway.
One thing I want to try is Infrared photography. It reacts to heat instead of light. Ever see the album cover of U2's Unforgettable Fire? That's infrared. Notice the white leaves and black sky. Color infra red is cool too. red leaves, green sky, it's like the colors are turned inside out. Black and white almost looks like a winter scene even in the heights of summer.

I love using my Nikon, which I bought myself after a summer of hard work.
I love black and whites...they really capture emotions. When I go around and I am without my camera, i think in terms of 'this place would be great for a b&w picture!' ;D
But on vacation I prefer to use color. It gives a better idea of what the place was really like.

I love to take pictures. I used to use disposable ones, but for Christmas I got a Polaroid I-Zone camera, and a Cannon. I especially like taking pictures of my little cousins and my friends. Also scenery like sunsets.

Try posing your cousins and friends. Or not. I like to take candid shots of people. Like when they're sitting or talking to someone else and I snap a picture of them, no posing.
Yeah, I like sunsets, and other weather. I also like landscapes like trees and mountains. Or look right up into a stand of trees and shoot straight up.

I, too, love black & white photography...but I like it best when it's extremely focused on small details. For example, a very close-up photo of part of a poster on a brick wall. Or graffiti(sp?). That and candid shots of people. That's why I love living in NYC...sometimes I just go out and sit by the Columbus Circle fountain, and take pictures of the pigeons and the people that go by. It's really beautiful. ~Mike

I think NYC was built for photographers. I mean, you have a big city with tall buildings that make for great pictures of light and shadow. I'd love to be there at night with all the lights at Times Square. Then there's the people and you see all kinds. Then a few blocks away is Central Park and just turn away and you can make it look like you're way out in the country.

I like taking pictures too, I am asking for a nice camera for Christmas, because I am only 15, no job, and no money. Anyways, I like black and white too! I went downtown (Cincinnati) with my sister for her photography class, and we just stood on a corner, taking pictures of buildings, homeless people, business people, kids, and fountains. They turned out really cool. The only advice I have is to be creative, and don't hesitate! Click away, or you'll miss it!
