Has anyone seen this? I saw this musical in Toronto and it was better than the Disney flick. It was also the best stage production I ever saw, better than Phantom of the Opera, which blew me away too. What I liked the most was the songs were better, the costumes were awesome, and the harmony was the best I ever heard.
From a technical view, the costumes were awesome because of the way they moved with the actors who not only had to be good singers and actors but puppeteers too. Then the genuies who designed the costumes to look like animals. Especally the giraffes. Some of the costumes had to move with the actors.
Has anyone seen this yet, what say you?

Oh trust me, you won't be disappointed. Too bad I can't meet you there. We took a train to Toronto, and there was a theatre group from a local high school that went with us too.

Sorry, I won't be able to go, but I already went in March. <br> Seems alot of choir groups and drama clubs go to Toronto to see one play or another. The Lion King is great for techies, costumers, and vocalists too.
I didn't realize this but the last half of Lion King is kind of telling about the exile of Nelson Mandela.

oh my goodness! i LOVED the Lion King... my boyfriend took me to see it in February for our anniversary and it was AMAZING!!! my favourite thing about it were the costumes..... sooo good. i bought that program/book thing so i would have pictures of it all.
to the people who have seen it... what was your favourite scene? mine was the one where there's all the dancers and two of the people are suspended and are doing ballet-like dancing in the air.... that was so cool!

This is a cool scene so I won't give too much of it away to those who haven't seen it. The part where Simba was grown and wondering where his father was. And the father appears in way you weren't expecting.
I liked the music, and the human giraffes, and how it didn't bother you that the actor's heads stuck out of the costumes and you could see thier faces. I also liked Scar's head the way it pivoted when the actor bent down. I also liked the feeling of time and movement they gave you while watching the show.
My favorite song was Chow Down? I think it was. And the baboon lady was great. She got a standing ovation and the loudest applause. I loved how she spoke South African and said in English, "Did you understand what I was saying?"
"You don't understand hunger. It's like an itch!" "Yeah, woims." "No, no, no. It's deep, persistent. Profound." "That's it. Woims. And when they get reeeaaally bad, all ya gotta do is. Hunker down and scoot!"
" . . . And I felt down hearted, every time that I---" "Shhh! Pumbaa, not in front of the kid." "Oh. Sorry."

Oh I saw this awhile ago, but I loved it.
I was mesmerized by the percussionists on the sides of the stage. It was as if they were emersed in the music and rhythm of everything. I thought that was really cool.
I also liked the opening scene... and I loved how they came in from the aisles. (I had pretty good seats!) And the birds were cool.

/\ Oh yes, those percussionsts were awesome!
That whole production kept you busy because the action wasn't all on stage, some was up in the aisles or way up near the ceiling. i kept looking around so I wouldn't miss anything. We had seats near off to the side so we had an elephant near us.
