I love drawin...I mostly draw people. To be more specific girls, because they seem way more easier to draw then a guys face. But I have done a couple with a guy and a girl posed together, so I'm working on the drawing a guy thing.
I also draw shoes, mostly heels ahaha...don't ask..nah I'm just playin' you can ask lol..
As for learning how to draw, when I was younger I used to draw sonic the hedgehog and other characters, especially disney characters and that's how I developed getting into drawing.
I'm wanna try using oil pastels..so if anyone has any tips, it's much appreciated! ;D

/\ I see the clothes you like, and now this. Have you ever thought of being a fashion designer? Or maybe an interior decorator. With the current trends in home decorating, there's big bucks in that.
Anyway. Oil pastels are a bit hard only because they're messy. One thing to try is using different colors of paper to set off the colors of the pastels. Also, get a roll of Drafting tape. It's tacky but repositionable. That way you can get a nice hard edge in some of your drawings. The artist who does the covers for the Harry Potter books uses pastels, so maybe you could study those, see how she uses them. But it's always good to develop your own techniques.
Another thing to try are pastel chalks, which go under different names like, NuPastel. These are a cross between chalk and pastels. Not as slippery, but a little more dusty. It's like using really nice colored pencils that you can blend with your fingers, erasers or pencil stomps.

Lololl. A couple of people have suggested that to me or asked if that's what I want to do. I don't know I like to keep drawing as a hobby for now.
And thank you for all the great tips! I will definately refer back to them when I start some oil pastels.Wow you know a lot. I've never used the pastel chalks before, that sounds good because they would be less messy and less slippery.

Hi ThaIceLady: Here is a site that shows you how to start an oil pastel drawing. The subject is a woman's face and head. I'll dig around for more, but there are lots of books on the subject too. elfwood.lysator.liu.se/farp/oilpastel/the term, 180g/m2 (85lbs) is paper. It refers to the weight or actually the thickness of the paper. 20 pound weight is like the paper you run through your printer. 30 pound is like card stock and higher is the stiffer thicker paper for paint and charcoal. As to drawing men, think, "angular." Girls are more curvy -- uhm, not that I've noticed. ;D Men are more angular. If you draw a girl's body like an hourglass shape, draw a man's upper-body, broad at the top for the shoulders, and smaller at the bottom at the waist. Now you've just taught yourself to draw a man's body. For a man's face, if you draw the girl's face with a rounded jaw, square the jaw-line off and don't draw the lips as full. It won't be perfect, but now you're on the way. Just practice refining the look you want. Also, put together a picture file. Grab images of people off the net from fashion sites and clothing store sites and print them out. Cut out the pictures of people in fashion mags, or even the news magazines. Cut out individual ears, lips, and eyes so you can just concentrate on only those body parts. Spend some time just drawing those shapes so you can get an idea what they really look like. It sort of "trains" your mind and hand. Yeah, I know alot, I've been doing it since 4th grade. ;D HEY, I do some of that. I can scan some of my drawings for you guys to look at, if you want.
Yes? No?Yes.

Okay. whohoo!
I started on my oil pastel picture, but I'm not sure how to the woman's hair, because her hair is black and I don't want it to end up looking like a big black blob lol. Do you have any tips? I already did her face, eyes, cheeks, and neck.
