Okay, I don't have too much to say about The Matrix, but I thought this might be an interesting tidbit.
As oddly placed as it is, in theaters, before Stephen King's Dreamcatcher beings, they have a Matrix short. Like, it's all computer generated and only about ten minutes, but I guess it was put in there to warm people up for the upcoming movie release? To generate publicity? I don't know. It was odd. But for all you die-hard Matrix fans, go watch Dreamcatcher and get an early glimpse ... even if it is just an animated short. With no Keanu.

I just saw The Matrix Reloaded. It was good, action-wise, and there was a little more plot than I expected. Yet still, the first was grittier and more unpredictable. Also, the characters were completely inhuman and the dialogue was ridiculous.

I know i cant really say much cause i havent seen Reloaded ye (soon!!!!). But the characters are allowd to be a bit extreme because they are so in the Matrix! I mean its the fact that its not the real world that they are in that makes it possible... I'm surprised that not many ppl have seen it yet. Or maybe no one is into it ....sigh

I saw the first movie and was bored. Then I saw it on TV and wondered why I was bored, there was some great action. Y'all know the Matrix is the movie that broke alot of ground in movie making, unfortunatly now it's all cliche'.
I mean, in every action / karate movie you have the rotation through a 360 degree freeze-frame, or the horizontal spinning from a jump, or the run-up-and -across-the-wall-to-gain-an-advantage shot. Only the masters of the Matrix do it well. Even Shrek took a stab at it.
Hey S.L.B., they just released the AniMatrix here in the states so keep your eyes out for that. It's a DVD with nine short stories each told with different styles of animation, digital and conventional. The previews look pretty cool, and might be more interesting than the movies.

Meh.
I really don't see what was so great about the first one.
It's overrated.
I was going to see the second one a while ago, but then I was all like "Uh...no."
[By that I mean that I haven't seen it, and probably won't see it.]

The thing is ppl, ITS NOT JUST THE ACTION AND CAMERA ANGLES... I mean dont u guys find the story so gripping, the idea of a pseudoworld and that we can plug ourselves into computers... Dont you go 'wow... just imagine if that were true' ? I mean yeah course i love the martial arts and action in it. I live for martial arts movies. Hey i do at least a couple myself. But for what makes it is the whole idea... and for that you have to really really concentrate on the movie. Maybe that why you guys got bored.. hmmm Yeah Animatrix is out soon here too. But i think i should watch the second one first. Either way Animatrix tells the story of the creation of the matrix and is a prequel in a way. Either way, thanx for the input. Need mo tho...its lonely at the mo.

I wasn't going to reply to this but then you said you wanted more input so here goes... I hated the first Matrix. I went about 20 minutes into the movie. Then I thought it was wiser if I didn't watch any more for fear of passing out (or being physically sick). I don't see any point in saying "what if this was true" because no way in heaven can I see even a minute chance of it happening. I'm a fan of the improbable and visions-of-the-future too, but this isn't quite my style. But that's just my opinion. My brother (and I think he has great taste in movies et al) and most of my friends think the world of Matrix. Maybe I should give it another try

Well, I thought the first one was pretty good, but in this oene...there's just no unexpected plot twists, no new special effects we wouldn't have predected, no particularly new and exciting setting.

Hey Delsie!!! Ignore everything I said in my last post. I watched the Matrix last night and I thought it was brilliant. I can't wait to watch Reloaded. The effects and the fight scenes were excellent but the plot was what fascinated me most. It isn't a case of what if- the matrix culture exists even now. We are manipulated from childhood to choose certain products to assert an identity and at the same time belong to a greater unit. Multinational corporations, politics, advertising, marketing... they're all metaphors of the matrix. Being able to plug ourselves into computers and enter another dimension provides an interesting alternative to reality Btw, why do you relate it to Buddhism?

OMG ...i finally seen it and its oh so amazing!
No offence to anyone but i think i kind of kills whats so special about the first one.
But its sooo twisted... Its like all hell starts breaking lose in a way.
Its a must see!
Busybodies - if u go to the matrix official webpage, theres a lot of essays about its links to religion. Christianity and buddhism being the most prominent.
The Matrix questions ur view of the world and what reality is. The Matrix is about control. How much control we have over our lives, how much control we entrust to people we dont know- without knowing.
Its about Fate, love, hope, greed, faith and comes from the very fabric that sews the world we live in currently. It draws on all our fears and shows them to us on a plate in front of us...for us to gag in fear.
