All right, here's a question that'll get you thinking.
Do you think that the new Star Trek film can carry on the famous legacy started by Gene? Or do you think that it will be a failure and dishonor the great lineage?

I'm waiting for it to come out too, looking forward to seeing it. It should be able to live up to the Star Trek legacy if they dont' try to wreck anything or change it too much. I watch Enterprise on occaison but it seems like I've seen them all before. They need to keep true to the characters we all know and not go to far with peole we've never heard of before carrying the story, although Soren in Generations was an excellent villain. I also thought the Borg were the best sci-fi villains ever created.

Seeing as it's the TNG crew, and their final appearance, I'm sure it will (hopefully) live up to Gene's other works. But I suppose that's a matter of opinion. Keep in mind, many Trekkers dispise Voyager and say it didn't live up to half the expectations, while others praise it. I love it, but I hate Enterprise, I think it just sucks. It makes me feel like Star Trek has been completely sold out as crap at this point, while, some people love it.
I guess it's just a matter of taste. I still intend to go the day it comes out, probably wearing my Voyager t-shirt (where all the TNG fans will throw popcorn at me and perhaps strangle me...and yet, it will still be better than what they'd do if it were a Star Wars t-shirt).

<<it will still be better than what they'd do if it were a Star Wars t-shirt). >> "Phasers, heh! velour uniforms, heh! dilithium crystals, heh! A Jedi needs not these things." "I find your lack of faith disturbing." ;D But seriously, I thought TNG was good, Voyager was okay, and I just can't get into Enterprise. But look what they're doing with another one of Gene's works, Andromeda, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's boring and stiff. Earth, Final Conflicts had been getting alot better lately but the beginning credits show the best parts. Hey, Vodkavengeance. You're falling down on the job here, I was waiting for you to start a Star Trek thread. Tsk tsk.

^^I would have, but when I did it at Razz, it was dead as a floating fish *shrugs*
As for Enterprise, I agree. I don't like it, I think it's playing too much into trying to get new fans...not satisfying the old ones.
Andromeda--ugh, the acting on that show is awful. I watched an episode out of curiosity that John DeLancie was guest starring in. He wasn't bad, but the rest of the acting was so stiff and so horrible, at least to me. And the writing wasn't really to my liking.
But Gene's still got Trek fans, firey as ever, loving every second of it. Even if Enterprise isn't quite a favorite, I still think fans will forever remain loyal to his or her choice of series.
I'm going to a convention in November with Kate Mulgrew ;D

<<Is Enterprise the newest incarnation of Star Trek on UPN ? >> Yes, it's been on a little over a year. OooH oooH! Dulled.Comet. are you a Trekkie too? So there's like . . . wow, four of us. "Lower your sheilds and surrender your ships. Your technological and biological uniqueness will be added to our own. You will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."Q: "Hear this Picard. All the galaxy's a stage." Picard: "No, not galaxy, world. All the world's a stage." Q: "Oh, well. If he were alive that's what he'd say." And if you want all the Star Trek series' sound effects, go here. You can have a Janeway.WAV or you can have the minimize and maximize windows open and close with the TOS Enterprise doors opening and closing. You can have your email show up with a bosun's whistle, and have the Photon torpedoes sound off when there's a program error. www.stinsv.com/This is the coolest ship, aside from the Enterprise E.

I love Star Trek! I can't wait to see the movie. I'm thinking it should hold up to the legacy...hopefully. *crosses*fingers*
I was kinda mad that Enterprise is on UPN since I don't get that but from the sounds of it I'm not missing much.

I am such a major trekkie, I get made fun of constantly by my friends (all in fun tho). I've even tried to convert one of my friends to becoming a trekkie with me.
E! It comes out December 13th! I can't wait!!!! I'm dragging my friend Sarah along. She agreed to come with me before she knew it was a Star Trek movie now she's just like 'what have I gotten myself into'. LOL Ha! She can't back out now!
But ya, I've seen a lot of the previews and it looks really good. I'm so excited!
