I'm not sure if this belongs here...
Anyways, hasn't there always been some kind of mystery about the Bermuda Triangle? I've heard some things about it...but does anyone know what it is or what's so mysterious about it?
I've been kind of curious lately, thanks!

Planes and boats have been known to disappear in that area. Compasses go haywire, as do other devices... Personally, I love this kind of stuff. I heard that one guy was flying through the BT (a regular route of his) on a flight that should have taken him a certain amount of time, and ended up at his destination 15-30 minutes early. But what was so strange was that he flew through a weird kind of mist, something he had never seen before. And that was the only time he arrived early to his destination and the only time he saw the mist. Nifty, huh? But yeah, that's pretty much what's so mysterious about it.

As all good mysteries must have a reason so doest this. But the scientific reasons given for this are just as weird. One reason ships disappear without a trace is that there are large areas under the sea that bubble up. When this happens it ruins water's ability to float objects. The water is so saturated with bubbles the ship hits one of these pockets and just drops to the bottom. It's like trying to float on a head of foam from a glass of soda-pop.
Sometimes these bursts of air are so strong, they reach up several thousand feet and take out any aircraft. Strong enough to knock it out of the sky. Other times the current running through the Bermuda Triangle, maybe it's the Gulf Stream, is so strong it pulls ships off course and they can't correct it so they drift rapidly and far away.

I've heard it.(There was an episode of it on Rocko' MoNder Life once) where all the bad stuff happens there. Like planes crashing, boats sinking, etc. I dont know if it's true or not.Because I think my aunt and unce went there before like a long time ago and nothing bad ever happened,I dont think. I juz think its a big UL (Urban Legend)......But I don't want to check anyhow ;D

Like planes crashing, boats sinking, etc. There's actually no proof of that. They've simply disappeared.
I don't think we'll ever find out what happened or happens at Bermuda Triangle, which apparently received its name due to the three islands that form a supposed island.
I'm pretty interested to find out. There have been claims of unknown life, or alien involvement in the area.

I've heard A LOT of creepy stories about this. Toxic, your explanation makes sense to a degree, but I doubt that every single plane that disappeared there disappeared because of that. I know there's probably a very good scientific reason for it, but I have yet to figure it out. In the meantime, my spiritual sense says there might be something supernatural about it. Who knows? And it's not like I wanna find out by going down there.

I've heard of this legend. It kinda creeps me out. And linkin, i saw that episode of Rocko's Modern Life. It made the old people get younger and the young people get older. Annie, there have been claims of unknown life and alien involvement? woo, that is freaky.

I was watching a Discovery Channel program about this a few days ago...and Toxic's right. What happens is that thick layers of solidified methane on the ocean floor (beneath the regular sediment) are disturbed by plates shifting, strong currents, etc. The layer of sediment above the methane cracks, and the methane escapes through the hairline fractures. It bubbles up to the top, and, as Toxic said, *sinks* boats and occasionally planes. Freaky stuff. Love, ~Mike
