The title's self-explantory. What do you think about nuclear power? Should this field be developed or should it be halted? I'll post my views later.

Like all sources of energy, nuclear power has it's pros and cons. When people think of nuclear power they tend to think about the tragedy at Chernobyl or the accident at three Mile Isle, not the fact that it is a relatively clean source of energy.
There is a nuclear power plant not far from where I live, and to be honest I feel more safe with that power source than I do with the coal burning plant also in my area. Also, just because there isn't a reactor in your area, it doesn't mean that you aren't benefitting from nuclear power. I live in New Brunswick, Canada and our nuclear power plant supplies a good portion of the US Eastern Seaboard with it's electricity.
What I would like to know is how many people actually know what nuclear power is. I am quite familiar with the process that governs nuclear power, and perhaps that's why I feel safe. It is afterall ignornace that breeds fear.

/\ Do you mean how it works? I can give a rough idea.
I think nuclear power should be used more extensively. It's a lot cleaner than burning fuel and more environmentally friendly than say, building a dam or filling up a huge tract of land with noisy windmills that only work when the wind blows half the time. The best is solar energy, but you need acres of solar panels to make the sun useful.
The nuclear waste produced since the 50's has not really that much. And even that waste can be used to make say, a battery that does never goes dead. I guess Eveready would have a problem with that.
