Does anyone actually *believe* in science?? Because I don't. Like at school when I'm in science I dont want to listen cause I feel like everything is just 'made up'...But what do ya'll think??

Well there are some parts of Science that I don't believe. For example, the creation method. Now because I'm a Christian I wouldn't believe this type of stuff. I believe that God made everything, living and non. I do listen in Science class though, when they tell me all of these things because then I can learn more about it and know what others think. But that doesn't mean that I'm ever going to change my decision. They can make me listen and learn, but they can't change my belief in things.
Anyhoo...to put it simply. No, I don't believe in Science.

Actually, If I remember correctly from my religous education, you can be a christian and still believe in scientific theories, as long as you believe God was the one who created the scientific happenings.
I believe in Science. Some of the theories, such as the Big Bang, I'm a bit skeptical of. The rest of it is pretty much logical explanations. A lot of it has been proven. I would suggest paying attention. It's pretty interesting in class. You don't have to believe it, but it is fun to learn.

You're very right. It is fun to learn. But most of it I don't agree with. Some of it, yes. But definately not the 'Big Bang Theory.' I prefer the theological explanation. 8)

Ever notice the initials for Bachelor of Science?
I've wondered about this myself. I am a beleiver in the Bib Bang Theory, because it sounds right. I'm not attached to it and it can just as easily be changed.
But there is alot of junk science out there and I wonder how some of it is real or is it based on how much grant money an institution can get. Make up results and you're an icon. But your results can't be proven because you've copywritten them, and the grant money is spent for someone else.
Once it was suggested that we didn't evolve from apes, but whales and dolphins. The reason was that since whales and dolphins have five-digit extremities, it was brilliantly decided that since we have five-fingered hands and feet that we came from them. If I did a project and came to conclusions like that, I'd be given a failing grade because PH-D and BS doesn't follow my name.

The Big Bang Theory is where a small dot . of energy blew itself up some 15 billion years ago. This, whatever was the explosion somehow expanded into all the stars, galaxies, planets and all the other stuff in the universe. It's how the universe was born. Galaxies are still racing away from each other at somewhere near half the speed of light. Astronomers can measure the speed of everything using red-shift.
You might have heard about Red Shift. That's when the light reaching your eyes or a telescope is losing strength. An object moving away from you in space has a red shift and some objects, like galaxies have a very strong red-shift. It's kind of like when a car is blowing it's horn and it slowly loses volume while it goes away from you. <br> Same with Blue-Shift, though not as common. That's the light gaining strength as it's coming toward you. Again the car horn sounds the way it does coming at you because the sound waves are piling up.
Red Shift; away from you. Blue Shift, toward you. ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ))))))))))) <<================================>>

I believe in science. I find it interesting, how science provides answers for most things around us. It's a fascinating aspect.
As for the Big Bang, it has been proven, somewhat, and there still are traces that remain of it, although it happened many million years ago. Although I am skeptical of the sudden burst of energy and the creation of planets and galaxies, there is a possibility, that as a Catholic, God might have provided the materials and the resources needed for this. It's a compromise of my beliefs and scientific facts.

I believe in science, but I also believe that there's a higher power somewhere with some control. Still, although I can't always get my brain around scientific theories (hence the reason why I study SOCIAL sciences), I like to learn about them. Science has helped a lot of people in terms of medicine, crime investigation, psychology and other ways, so we might as well at least respect it.

Crime Investigation?? Hmmm...I always think of science more as in plants and stuff. Yes I belive in that much of it though (Would that also be involved with Detectives??) Because I *love* stuff like that. But some of the science stuff out there I don't really belive much of.
The way I see it,for example, like germs and stuff, they look through a microscope and they see stuff squirmming around. But that could be anything !! But that's how I see it.

I'm puzzling over this one. Because so much science is simply theories then its hard to know what the exact truth is. I believe the stuff which is proven, but then what exactly can scientists actually prove?

Yup, Linkinpark_girl, crime investigation. They can solve murders and rapes through DNA evidence. Watch the show CSI (on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. on CBS) and you'll see great examples of that.

[glow=red,2,300]^^^^^^ Hmm. I guess I *do* believe in *that* kind of science then. I usually watch 'The New Detectives' and 'FBI files' on The Discovery Channel. But I'll check that out too.[/glow]
