I've volunteered at a senior's home, and before that at an elementary school. It was a lot of fun, but hard work. Nowadays, I do more paid work, because I need the money.

I volunteer a LOT!
* at church - I am a reader, and I also help out with children's programs, like "Vacation Bible School", from 9-3:30 Monday-Friday for a week in the summer.
* political campaigns - this is my newest thing and my favourite to do! I just finished my first campaign, for a local politician in a federal by-election. I learned so much and met a lot of awesome people!

I volunteer at California Philharmonic Orchestra concerts. It's fun interacting with other people and I get to watch/listen to the concert for free! I also volunteered to restore the local river.
We have to contribute 100 hours to graduate but I like to do it because it's fun.

I volunteer with a program geared towards teenage mothers, and I volunteer with a program that helps foster children. I also volunteer at manors for elderly through clubs at school, and with whatever else is going on with school clubs, churches, etc. All in all, I've done lots of volunteering. It's cool. ;D

During the summer, I volunteer with preschoolers. I used to enjoy it, but now the counselors think it's fun to boss me around/yell at me for no reason So next year, I'll probably just get a job there.

I volunteer at the food bank occasionally, once a week "tutoring" kids who aren't doing so well in school and can't afford to get actual tutors, and I help my karate teacher now (once a week). Also, last summer, I spent the whole summer volunteering as a softball coach for 5 year olds with my friend.
I started volunteering because at school we're required to finish 40 hours of community service to graduate ... but I'm way beyond that, and I've continued to volunteer anyway.
Oh, I also help at Sunday school in my church as well.

I'd also just like to say it's so wonderful to see how many of us are volunteering and enjoy it! Even the smallest thing can make a big difference in someone's life.
