We don't have guns. If a rapist (or robber, or kidnapper, etc.) ever comes into my home, I'll just stab him with the fucking steak knife. MuhahahaPersonally, I feel better with a gun than a steak knife (less chance of the intruder getting a gun than a knife), but to each their own.

We have always had guns in our house. We keep them locked up of course.
There is nothing wrong with having firearms in your house. I think everybody should atleast learn how to shoot one.
We have 5 pistols (2 of which are mine) and 3 rifles in our house. They actually came in handy one night when someone broke into our house. We didn't shoot the guy but my dad just shot the gun to scare him and it worked. If my dad wouldn't have had that gun he would of most likely been shot.
The only thing we do with the guns is go to a range to practice. It's a way of self defense, just the same as karate, a knife, or whatever else.

I have always have guns in my house. They aren't in a locked up place or anything, but they also aren't loaded. Me and my sister both know never to touch them unless someone is with us, and we never even think about it. There would never be a case in my house where one of us shot one off because we've been raised with guns in our house and its just like "yeah they're there, big deal, who cares"

I don't see the point in having a gun for protection if you are going to lock it up. It would take too long to get it out if you needed it in an emergency. Yet it would be unsafe to *not* lock it up. That's why I don't really see any point in having a gun.

^^ <sigh> I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm picking on you Cass. I'm really not, promise. It would take too long to get it out if you needed it in an emergency. Not true. They have gun storage cases where there are finger imprints and you type in a code with your fingers. Takes maybe 5 seconds once you are awake. Then you wait for the jerk to find you, you don't go looking for him.

My boyfriend owns a gun, and doesn't keep it locked up. It's not loaded (although the handy clip with hollow-point bullets is in the same spot), and he responsible about it. I do wonder about having it locked up, but the way the apartment is set up there's no reasonable way to lock it up and be able to access it in time.
I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about it, although the situation is massively simplified by the lack of children in the apartment and because he doesn't show/tell people where he keeps it.

Currently, we only have a BB gun in our home, but after some pressure from me, my dad has agreed to get us a REAL gun for target shooting. I have sort of a fixation with guns and explosives...not for violence, just because they interest me.
I'm hoping for a TEC-9 or something to that extent.

Actually, the gun you have in your house for protection is more likely to be used against an innocent person. No guns in my house. My dad doesnt hunt. I wouldnt let a gun in my house.

My mom would never have a gun here. I don't think they are nessecary. We are pretty safe here. The other day my friend called me and told me about this kid that shot himself in his closet, and I told my mom and she freaked out. She was yelling "Why did they allow their kids to have access to a gun?!" I completely agree, because if I was to kill my self I would definetly go for a gun.

^^ I'd go for pills. Less chance of screwing up, and if you did screw up, you wouldn't have a huge chunk of your head taken out (believe me, I've heard stories of people messing up their suicides with a gun).

^^ Hmmm, you could be right... But I don't cherish the thought of my last sensory memories being of stinky stuff. Funny how this turned into a discussion of killing oneself. LOL

I'm not the smartest person about these things, so I wouldn't know what pills to take, or where I'd get them. I'd probably do research on this type of thing, but if I was in a hurry or was just caught in the moment I'd go for a gun. A person who wants to end their life probably isn't thinking about the consequences, and probably hasn't put much thought into it. Thanks for the advice, by the way. LOL.
