Rape

If you stand in a group of you and your girlfriends, chances are that at least one of you will be raped. This scares the hell out of me, I think it's horrible and immoral. Many victims of rape can't even stand sexual intercourse with a loved one because the experience keeps coming to mind. I can't believe that men take advantage of people this way. Sex is supposed to be sacred and special, not something violent with a stranger who'd just as soon kill you when it's all over.

<<<< However I've recently taken some self-defense classes, which are useful in knowing how to physically prevent an attack no matter how strong or weak you are. >>>> Good for you!! Also, and it may just be my active imagination going off again, but what if someone couldn't get around as easily as others (Not just elderly people) Like someone in a wheel chair or something, how would they learn protect themselves?? <<<< If you stand in a group of you and your girlfriends, chances are that at least one of you will be raped. >>>> Yes. I've heard this too. Except I thought it was atleast 3...?? Well,I do know that girls, from 12-28 are more likely to be raped. <<<< Many victims of rape can't even stand sexual intercourse with a loved one because the experience keeps coming to mind. >>>> I didn't think about that. But that's sad how someone could be so 'careless' by hurting someone else's (love) life, like that. <<<< I can't believe that men take advantage of people this way. >>>> I don't think that's very fair. It's not just men that rape. Women do it too. Maybe not as often, but they still do. And maybe alot of women who have raped someone maybe didn't phsically do it. It could have been statory instead. <<<< Sex is supposed to be sacred and special >>>> Not everyone will agree (and please don't get mad),but try telling that to all the teens/adults that do it with their boyfriend/girlfriend.(((((( But,don't think that I'm the one whose going to get married first. I want to,and maybe me (and my boyfriend) will. But I think it will be much more 'sacred and special' once your married first. But some (rape victims) can't help that and I understand that. ;D ))))))

Rape

How should we, as women (and the few men on board) go about preventing rape in our lives and the lives of others? In other words, what can we do to protest or educate? Campaigning for tougher sentences for rapists, and possibly self defense sessions will be helpful. I don't think self defense necessarily guarantees full immortality from certain scenarios. Also, and it may just be my active imagination going off again, but what if someone couldn't get around as easily as others (Not just elderly people) Like someone in a wheel chair or something, how would they learn protect themselves?? It might be helpful if they carried around a personal alarm, one that goes off at a touch, or some pepper spray. Often these safety devices carry their own dangers. It's not just men that rape. Women do it too. Maybe not as often, but they still do. Exactly. Apparently being sexually abused by a woman is often more traumatic than being abused by a man. A random fact I picked up in a newspaper.

Yes,those could be helpful-For both sexes. I've also heard on this program, where police, etc have made bras for women with,I think,an alarm of some kind inside it. That could help unless,of course,it is too expensive. <<<< Apparently being sexually abused by a woman is often more traumatic than being abused by a man. And I think I know exactly why. I got something in my Email a few days ago,and I tried submitting it on here last night but it was too much and then I lost it all. It's a little long, but it's defniately worth reading. I'll try t get it on here in a few minutes.

>>Exactly. Apparently being sexually abused by a woman is often more traumatic than being abused by a man. A random fact I picked up in a newspaper. <<
Also, if it's a man who is raped by a woman (or he could be raped by another man) he is much less likely to report it.

Rape really isn't about sex though. I mean, to some extent it is, but it's more about violence and power than anything else. Rapists want to feel like they have power over a woman (or a man, in some cases). It's a psychological thing.

Rape

I think that rape is definitely 100% disgusting and I also think it is disgusting that it might turn someone on. But, that is just my opinion. I don't think that ANYONE should get turned on by rape because in every rape, someone is gettting hurt. Whether they be murdered, or not. Physically, it hurts, and I'm almost positive that anyone who is raped hurts emotionally. I just feel so sad for all those girls out there who have been raped. I feel no pity for those who are rapists either.
I wanted to ask a question. I have a friend... I may be wrong, but I always thought that guys could get raped too. She doesn't think so. I mean, I know that a guy has to be well "hot" or "turned on" but, can't they still get raped? I honestly don't know. Please help me with this question.

^^^ No, it's not statutory rape, because in the age of consent is 16 or lower in most states. In very few it is 17, but it's never higher than that.

^^^ Again, it depends on the state. In some states, the age of consent is 15, so it would still be legal. Also, it's only a 3 year age gap, and that sometimes has something to do with it. But it all depends on where you live.
