^^^ Well, I'm against cloning too. But when you clone someone, both people just have the same DNA. Clones are really no different from identical twins, except for the fact that there is a gap in age and that one is conceived in a lab.

I am bith for and against cloning. Let me explain:
I am against cloning an entire person with every fiber in my body. You are not God and have to right to be using technology to try to create a person He might not want created. The second you take the matter of natural creation out of His hands, you are playing God and that is one of the hugest sins I can think of. Also, how do you expect to cloned person to function properly? I truly believe that the soul is what sparks your life and starts your heartbeat and it is impossible to clone a soul because it is an essence of life and not something physical.
I am, however, for cloning organs. If an organ is cloned than it can save countless lives and cure many diseases, such as Diabetis. I don't think people should be cloned completely for the sole purpose of harvesting their organs, but I trust that in the near future it will be possible to clone a single, particular organ and also to clone the things necessary for your body such as bloos cells and insulin.

Why wouldn't it function properly? It would still be a person, just like you and me. The only difference would be the way it was created. A clone isn't really just a copy of another person... It's basically an identical twin. It has its own mind and can act on it's own, it would just have the same DNA of another person. It's unnatural, but so is artificial insemination and in-vitro fertilazation. But children born from those procedures still are people.
Anyway, the reason I'm against cloning isn't simply because it's unnatural. I find that it is also unnecessary. Maybe if the human race had a desperate need to procreate, I would see the point in cloning. But otherwise, I think it won't serve any purpose.

Snowbunny, with reference to what you said, I can point out exactly what people who support cloning would disagree with about your comment: Science generally supports the idea of evolution as opposed to creation. Though in no way am I saying what you believe is wrong, many people wouldn't let that sort of thing stop them from cloning, or seeing how far they can go with it.

On the news recently, I saw that they had cloned the first human and named the baby "E". If this is true or not, I don't know.

Cloning is playing God and that is wrong. <<<I am against cloning an entire person with every fiber in my body. By saying that, you're expecting everyone to follow the rules of God, and by treating cloning as a sin. I, for one, do not agree with the Christians' view on how humans were created, and your statements seem to take for granted that everyone must obey God.

^^ Actually, by saying that I am stating why *I*, personally, do not believe in cloning and why *I* don't think it will ever work. Not once in my post did I say that I assumed that everyone would share my Christian beliefs.

Not once in my post did I say that I assumed that everyone would share my Christian beliefs. Throughout your post, you said, " You are not God..." therefore, you are addressing someone beside yourself. If you had an option to make cloning illegal, I would assume you would take it. However, because your reasons behind it include your belief in God, wouldn't you be inflicting it upon everyone else?

I said, " if you could make cloning illegal..." The way you stated your opinion, it wasn't difficult for one to receive the impression that you expect everyone else to follow your beliefs.

IF I could make cloning illegal, I probably wouldn't, because I know and realise that other people do not share my beliefs. If I thought they did I would specifically SAY "you should...".
