I am only 15, and I want to get a job this summer. In fact, I really need a job so I can buy a car in January. The only problem is only a couple of places hire at 15. And those are the really sucky places I don't want to work. So, does anyone have any suggestions? Any would be helpful! Thanks!

Since it's hard to get a job at 15, I would take whatever is available, even if the jobs are "sucky." I mean, what's worse: Having a sucky job, but being able to buy your car, or having no job and no car? Try McDonald's, or another fast food place. I think they may hire at 15. Some of the ones where I used to live did. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you, besides babysitting. When I was 15, I pretty much had to wait it out until I was older. But go with the sucky job if you have to. It's better than nothing, and will get you your car faster. Sorry if I offer no help.

Honestly, how sucky can those jobs be? There was a quote by Bill Gates I saw a few months ago... I just searched my room trying to find it now, with little success. It was something along the lines of, "You call it flipping burgers; your grandparents called it 'opportunity'." Don't be so picky. Get your hands dirty if you have to, get some experience in life. Not every teenage job involves ringing up clothes in a mall boutique where you get a discount.

Completely.Incomplete & Fyre are right. how many businesses and colleges are going to look for a student who had a full time job that payed $10/hr, or who was a CEO by the age of 14 or something like that?! my dad told me and my sisters "to never think that you are ever too good for any job." i have a friend who works at McDonalds and she said one time that she wants more hours. if you babysit, not only are you getting money, you are letting the 'rents have at least a couple hours alone, and it 'trains' you when you have kids of your own.

Fast Food places (McDonalds, Burger King, etc) hire at age 14 (or at least around here). I'm going to get a job at McDonalds soon...for like an after school and weekends thing. My Uncle owns all the McDonalds in my city....so I have connections. Wahoo! Lmao. But hey, it's not a bad way to earn yourself a little bit of extra cash! It wouldn't bother me anyways. .Brite.

In the state of California, you can work at the age of 15 (unless you're an actor or something...laws are different for that). My problem is not that I'm too young, my problem is that I'm in a small area with very few businesses and so far, no jobs available. I was almost hired for one place, except, they JUST started selling wine (I had forgotten--it's a cafe) and you have to be 18 to do that. Just check around. A lot of offices will hire young people to be receptionists. I'm thinking about checking the dentist's office nearby...ahhh, I'm so broke

I know this thread is old but maybe this will help others.
At 15, I had 2 telemarketing jobs and I worked construction at a temp agency. Look for temp agencys. And where I live, no one can legally force you to tell them your age, so dont hesitate to try out places like mccdonalds or other fast food places.

I agree with everthing everyone else has said. I mean, what's better - sucky jobs and car - or - no job no car - any "sucky" job should pay out in the end.
i also think that a place like McDonalds is a good place to raise any money...
