What is up with them lately? It seems that any time I use a so-called "bad" word in my posts, it is edited in some weird way. Also, I don't understand why certain words need to be filtered. I mean, I don't really think there's anything wrong with cursing, as long as you don't do it excessively. If I have a swear word in my posts every once in a while, is it really such a bad thing?

Ah, Thanks! This is really bothering me... I feel like it's almost limiting my freedom of speech. Besides, what's the use? We've all heard these so-called "bad words" before, and hopefully we're mature enough to handle it. We're not using them in personal attacks towards people, so it's not hurting anyone.

That's really been bugging me lately, too. There's a girl that was trying to explain something someone said to her, and it came out as instead of ____ person (I still don't know what she said) is said "friendly" person....it's been getting to me. Midnight: Do you know if you could get rid of these filters or something

I'd have to agree with Lisa...it seems like it's trying to take away our freedom of speech. As long as we're not doing it to hurt someone's feelings...

Who really cares? I mean why is it so necesarry for you to swear? I mean I admitt I swear all the time , butit doesn't bother me that I can't here. And I dont really get that whole freedom of speach thing. I mean you can say exactly what you want with out saying that one word or you can replace the word.

Sometimes it takes away the meaning completely! In the "What Stereotypes Are You Placed Under?" thread I tried to explain that I was placed under the sl*t stereotype and instead it said that I was stereotyped as a very "friendly" person! That completely takes away the meaning and confuses people. Nobody is sterotyped as being very "friendly".

Midnight, you posted in my thread, but you did not give me any reason why we need filters. I'm willing to bet that the majority of the people on these boards are not offended by swearing. Also, some of you say that swearing is not necessary. But I think that it's helpful sometimes, especially in the Poetry and Support And Recovery boards, for obvious reasons.

As much as I hate to say this the censoring system is disabled at this time. But I do have access to enable it at any time I wish-so if I have any problems with inappropiate language then I will enable it.
I didn't want to disable it because I wanted to prevent any problems with inappropiate language.

I understand where you're coming from, Midnight...and thanks for disabling it. I agree with what many people have said-- I hope that we are all mature and intelligent enough to know when a curse word is really "necessary" and when it just makes you sound silly. And I think we can safely assume we've all heard these words at least once or twice, right? (Heck, one of my first words was "asshole." I live in midtown Manhattan and we had a car...and you know how traffic is here. heh. What a kid, right?) Love, ~The Kitten~

I agree with Joy, I hope that we're all mature enough to know when swearing just sounds stupid and to know when it helps to get our point accross. Lol at the first word thing Haha that made me laugh. [glow=red,2,300] ¤*¤EMILY¤*¤[/glow]
