I was wondering how much homework everyone gets, like how much time do you have to spend on average on homework in one day?

I'm in college, and we don't really get homework (or busy work, as I prefer to call it). Yes, we have graded assignments and papers that we do at home, but that's not the same as homework. It's not time-consuming and pointless. It makes me so angry when high school and middle school teachers give students hours of homework a night. That kind of thing is just busy work, because it's not even graded. They just check to make sure you did it. Here's a piece of advice: if the teacher does not grade the homework assignment and just gives you credit for trying, then BS it. Don't spend 15 minutes trying to find the answer to one question. I spent hardly any time on homework in high school, and I turned out fine.

the only classes i get homework in everyday is math and science. my english teacher hardly gives us homework, and if she does, its really simple. and in history she gives us all of the work so we turn it in on every friday.

little to none. i've never really had to bring anything home to work on for as long as i can remember, except for things like reports which i needed to type at home. (the school's computers are pure garbage.)
i get most, if not all, of my work done in class. i've got four study halls every day that i make almost no use of at all. i may do work in only one of them, but it's usually to help out someone else.
our "homework" is in fact graded though, and there is work in most every class that you're expected to complete for the next day almost every day.

I'm required to do at least an hour and a half of homework each day, or twenty minutes per subject. It does pile on after you skip a day or two, so it's best to keep on top of it.
Assignments must be handed in on the precise due date, otherwise it's expected to be handed as soon as possible. We lose a mark for each day it's late.
We're given math sheets to complete each week and hand in the next, alongside daily textbook work, plus the Newspapers in Education unit, which is set twice each semester. We don't have any complusory homework in English, but the teacher likes it done.

I get a lot of homework and most of it is pointless. I usually start when I get home around 5 and finish at 11. Homework checks count for a huge chunk of our mark so I must keep on top of it.

The homework I get is mainly assignments and study for tests and exams, and it's quite a lot - 4-5 hours a night.
Last year I never did anything, I'd never studied for a test. I got to the start of year 11, failed a physics test and though, 'hm, I actually have to do the study'

Well, I get about an hour and a half of homework each night. I think our teachers are just full of crap, but there's really not much I can do about it.

It varies. Sometimes I have none, other times I have 3 hours worth. I tend to spend more time on it than most people, though. I'm very diligent in making sure my work is done neatly and correctly. Also, I'm the only person I know who actually studies for tests. On average, I usually spend 45 minutes to an hour and a half on it. Honors courses next year, though, so it's going to increase.

It usually takes me about an hour to get homework done... but it's super hard! We do have to get it graded. We have to switch papers with whoever will switch with you, no one switches with me, I'm too foriegn (sp?) for them, I guess. Can't wait to go back to Cam... but anyways, I guess it's not too bad.

Well, last night I had 4 hours of straight homework. Yes, 4 hours. I had a 90-question packet plus studying in Science; worksheet and studying in Life Skills; worksheet, note-taking and studying to do in Spanish; memorizing lines, studying, book report, and a packet to do in English; 3 page text-book assignment and studying to do in Algebra.
Crap, that seems like a lot.

^^ Yikes, that is a lot. I'm sorry. Last term, I had so much homework that I actually got heartburn and broke down crying a couple of times. LOL I'm in college, but unlike Cass, I do have a lot. I have math, my Faith and Reason class, and English this term, so hopefully it isn't as my as last term. I can only hope. Generally, I have about 2 hours of homework, but when it gets close to finals, it grows to 3 or 4 (maybe not every day, but close to). Speaking of, I have to go do some homework.

I get quite a bit of homework...about 2 to 4 hours every night. I'm taking two honors classes (English and World History), plus Lab Biology, which is above regular science and below honors. I get a TON of homework from my English teacher - at least 2 hours a night from that class alone. I'm also taking French and Algebra 1B, which give a significant amount as well. Luckily though, we have block scheduling, which gives you an extra day to get it all done.
