Queen of Hollywood, O I def. agree! Once I turn 18, I already told my parents that I wasn't going to be seeing them as much because they were so terrible as parents during my childhood. LoL, well it's the truth - God, my parents are overprotective - every little thing - where when why how whos going to be there whats their number - blah blah blah! They have no faith in me, no trust, and basically think of me as someone who can't chew gum and walk at the same time. Pathetic right? And the thing is they don't know me at all. So I have this question - I might be going away soon - about 5 hours away, with my friends, and one adult, and its soo okay with my friends parents, but mine hafta make a big deal about it. How do I make them say yes? And I don't really have time to show them I'm responsible, I kind of just need reasons why they should let me go. HELP!! LoL Well, yeah, once I turn 18, no more parents=no more anxiety.

My parents are very protective. I know they do it for my own good, but they act like I'm going to get into so much trouble. I am a good girl, what's their problem. One weekend, we had 2 play cast parties and before the 1st night they said I could stay out until 12:30, but if I came home at 12, they would give me a later curfew the following night. I came home at 11:30 and when I ask what my curfew is the following night they say 12:30. That is not fair at all. I need to have a chance to make my own mistakes. ARgh. ~Kimber

[glow=pink,2,300]My parents (especially my mom) are waaaaay too overprotective!!! Ug! It's so annoying! I can understand it to a degree but they cross the line. I wanted to move out a long time ago but then I wouldn't get money for college. Maybe they'll loosen up when I'm 18...doubt it.[/glow]

Overprotective and Naiive. Bad combination. They think they are protecting me, but they don't know the difference between a dangerous situation and a safer one. It's so frustrating.

yep, I have an overprotective mother, after she kept it up for so many years, I moved out of my mom's house, and went to live w/ my dad for year, and then after a year, I came back, and my mom has gotten better at it, she is still a little overprotective but not as much as she used to. Thank god... lol

Ugh... yeah my parents are pretty overprotective. I think it's because I'm the oldest and a girl. Being the oldest, I was the one responsible for "breaking in" my parents so... yes they are more overprotective with me than they are with my younger brother. And whole issue of being a girl. It seems as though they're afraid I'll get raped, abducted or assaulted as soon as I step out of the door. A few nights ago, my friend and I were walking around the area since we didn't want to stay cooped up in our houses. My parents wanted me home at 9:00PM. And I am 16 years old. What kind of crap is that? There are tons of people who stay out till 3:00AM, doing drugs and God-knows-what-else... yet a friend and I are walking around, getting some hot chocolate, meeting with people, and they want me home at 9:00PM. I really am a good girl (usually) so I don't see why they have to be so overprotective.

My parents were really overprotective of me. The only thing that sucks is that they never were with my brother (who is 2 1/2 years older than me) and they haven't been as protective of my sister (who is 3 years younger than me) as much as they were with me. When I was younger (maybe 14), they would have a problem with me hanging out with anyone besides my best friend Kim. (she is also my cousin and her mom and my mom are really close so I assume they trusted her) Luckily, I convinced them to be less restrictive than they were. But they still were somewhat protective of me. Thankfully, I am at college, 3 hours away.
