Well I'm from NZ, its a pretty nice place like it has heaps of different scenery and some parts are quite pretty (if u guys have all seen Lord of the rings) but in some places there isn't much to do and I'd prefer to live in America or somewhere where there are heaps of cool shops and stuff. Also its kind of annoying having to explain to people where NZ is, and that no, you're not part of australia, and finally - no, we don't have sheep everywhere and our main occupation here is not sheepfarming! lol! ;D So who else here is from NZ? Have any of you ever visited here and what did u guys think of it?

I know what you mean about preferring to live elsewhere. New Zealand isn't much of a bustling place, yet it's great for tourism thanks to the beautiful scenery and locations. I thought the Lord of the Rings featured some great samples of what we have.
I don't think living in a small place is so bad, apart from, yeah, like you said, having to explain where our country is. I suppose I wouldn't mind living in a place like America, but they're at a higher risk of foreign attacks like the ones that occured on September 11 than a minor country like New Zealand is.

I'm from New Zealand. nzgirl, you are so right about the scenery! *lol* soo many trees.. thank goodness for the suburbs! it definately isn't the most busy and "exciting" place on earth but i still like it. I don't get the "sheep farming" thing tho.. when i go through the country (which is rare) i see more cows and deer than sheep. and sheep are common everywhere basically, so you can't say that only NZ is the sheep farming country of the world.

You guys are *really* lucky to live in NZ, I'd love to be able to go there, but I doubt we could afford to a 23-hour flight from IL! Lord Of The Rings really convinced me, it looks beautiful.
So the sheep are just a myth? I always pictured NZ on a map with little sheepies running around on the picture of the country, I'll have to stop that! Now I can just think of Frodo and Legolas, hehe!
Do you not have cool stores there? Do you have Gap and Old Navy, or are there totally different brands? And do you speak a different language, or is it (as I always thought) English and some French, like Canada?

New Zealand is a hole. And I live there.
So the sheep are just a myth? I always pictured NZ on a map with little sheepies running around on the picture of the country, I'll have to stop that!
Actually, New Zealand has about fourteen times more sheep than humans, according to a research conducted a few years ago. But the population has grown since. Then again, sheeps breed, too.
Do you not have cool stores there? Do you have Gap and Old Navy, or are there totally different brands?
There is Gap clothing here, but they aren't in style at the moment. What's "cool" in New Zealand, or at least where I live, are brands like Quiksilver, Billabong and Roxy. A lot of the stores here are just nationwide, like Glassons, HBK and Jayjays. Do you have stores like Colorado and Ocean & Ice where you live?
And do you speak a different language, or is it (as I always thought) English and some French, like Canada?
There's Maori that's spoken, which is the language of the native inhabitants. Kind of like the Aborigines.
