This will be my last post. Hopefully for the admins and mods, this will be a helpful post that will make this community improve, and won't be locked up or deleted. Because these are things that Cloud Nine needs to improve on. I love this community, and would like to continue posting, but I would rather tell you what Cloud Nine needs to improve on. - Newbies - Surely you like getting newbies, so why not make the feel welcome by going into the Welcome thread now and then and be helpful to the newbies.
The Cloud Nine Spotlight - seriously, update it! Or delete the damned thing. It's surely not being put to any use.
There are many more things you need to improve on. I know, I can't expect to see the admins and mods on Cloud Nine 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and I see you have lives. But this place NEEDS TO IMPROVE! I would suggest that you could hire more moderators, and about 2 more ADMiN's that you could suggest. Also, this place also needs sprucing up a bit when it comes to the HTML of the place. Try adding a little more clipart, or html. Try the Proboards Support Message board. They have lots of HTML (easy, too mind you). You want to change the smilies, and the buttons. Thank you for your time. Please do not delete this thread or lock it up. This could be a spot to discuss what this place needs improvement on. You need to dicuss how to improve instead of sweeping it under a rug. Thank you, ~|doken from proboards support and former member "Audrey".|~

Ummm.
Newbies- We do welcome newbies. And we do it quite nicely.
Cloud Nine Spotlight- I think it's a good idea in theory, and should not be deleted. In reality, I am impartial to it, since I don't really read it.
Getting More Mods/Admins- Maybe. Personally, I think the current Mods and Admins are doing an okay job, but, hey what do I know?
HTML-Too much HTML and clipart looks cluttered. Simple is best when it comes to message boards. Although adding a few more smilies might be a good idea.

It's very hard to make changes when one admin is on vacation from the boards, and the other one is super-busy with school and stuff (i.e. life). I'm only one person, and I can't do everything. I agree we do need more mods, however if we mod more people, there will be less regular members. As for getting 2 more admins, 2 is too many. Maybe one more, but that's it. As for Cloud 9 spotlight, I'm considering deleting it. I think I'm gonna have a vote on whether or not to delete it. That way, it'll be democratic. I'm incompetent when it comes to HTML - I can't follow the commands, and I always screw up. I also don't know how to change the smilies. Any help, via PM, is much appreciated.

You have some nice suggestions, Audrey, but I also have to make a point. HTML-work can be nice, but I really have to question why it is needed. The color scheme here works for us and in my opinion does nicely on its own. New backgrounds and images just require more loading time. Didn't we try this once before, by the way? I remember that when we made the Midnight Board-Cloud Nine transition, we had a cloud background. It looked beautiful but at the same time took eons to load; thus it was taken down. Still, I have to agree with Spiffy on this - too much HTML can produce a cluttered feel to the boards. I don't know about you, but I prefer a nice, clean-looking background devoid of clutter as opposed to a page filled with showy, slow-loading graphics.
With that out of the way, I'm going to have to agree with you on the Cloud Nine Spotlight business. It was a good idea from the beginning, but it really isn't being put to much use nowadays. It could always be put in The Fog for later viewing; I wouldn't like to see it totally gone. There were some good interviews in there, after all.

Since we're talking about colors, there is a way you can add a template changer to the header of the board using CSS. A lot of ProBoards has these and they do very nice.
And about Spot Light, the people do know all the rules of it, right? Because I'm thinking that might be the source the problem.

Jen, have you ever thought about adding gradients to the board, because that's what many people at ProBoards say we could use. A very simple program you can make gradients with is Gradient Thief.

I'd like to offer some comments on the above statements if I may.
First, to issue the 'newbie' situation, it's not polite calling someone a 'newbie'. We do try to welcome new members as much as possible. When I come across a new member, I try to always send a welcome PM to them. Just to add some stats to this, only 24 of our registered members have zero posts. I consider that to be a very good number considering our size.
With the Spotlight board, it has been removed, but not deleted. It's still there, but just simply hidden for now. The Spotlight board will certainly re-open when traffic picks up a bit.
The HTML of the board? I assume you mean the eye candy. It will be spiced up a bit in the future. However, the current colors will still be available for those wishing to use them.
And, administration inactivity? It has, without a doubt, been a huge problem in the past. From this point on, I'm going to make it a priority to try to poke around here at least once a day. Only people who are highly active on CNC will be chosen as staff members in the future.
