You know what I've notice lately... ALL the labels everyone have for people. Expecially for ... Goth, Punk and Prep. Everyone labels eah other! It is very annoying. All I ever hear about is oh.. she is such a prep and oh im punk and he goth dont hang out with him. Why do we have all theese labels anyways? Do they really matter? Why should we not accociate ourselves with certain people? Becuase you heard they act a certain way? That is so streotypical! Another thing I've been thinking about. Have you ever notice most people considered to be preps don't go around saying "Oh yeah Im a prep" or get sns that tell everybody they are prep. Example PreppyGirlBabe or something. As for SOME (not all) people who are punk or goth go and get names like PunkRockGirl and Goth4life or something. Then they go around telling peopem they are punk. Thats not all mind you.. just people who try to be punk... you know the ones who shop at Hot Topic and stuff. Then they go around saying how much they hate preps. Im sick of that labeling... I expecially hate it when people label themselves! I find it extreamly annoying. If you think your goth punk or even a prep you din;t need to go tell everybody let them figure it out for themselves and PLEASE quit with the labels! Does anyone else feel this way? That everyone labels themselves and others to much?

I hate when people label others. I mean, it's a person. A person shouldn't be put into a specific group or title. Labeling someone a prep, of punk or whatever just makes it that much easier for someone to assume something about them. I don't see the need for putting people into categories, what category they're in isn't going to affect who they are, so what's the purpose? I especially hate it when people label themselves. Oh, look at me, I'm a prep, or look at me, I'm a freak. It just makes them seem fake, and that they are trying to draw attention to themselves. Some people will get into the whole Goth or punk thing just for shock value. Which bugs me alot. There's people at my school who do that. Last year, they were just like everyone else in the school, then, when we got a Hot Topic, they just turned "Gothic" and run around going "Oh, I hate life, I hate people, look at me, I'm "scary", blah blah. They do it for everyones reactions. Now, I'm not saying that people who dress Gothic, or Punk or whatever are all like that. I just don't think people need to run around telling everyone what "group" their in, or not likeing someone because they're not in their group or whatever. You need to like, or dislike, the person, not the category they're in.

I hate labels. One of my friends insists she's a punk. She has a screenname along the lines of "XoX-pUnKqT-XoX" and she owns the Blink-182 CD. I won't even begin to go anywhere with that.
Labeling totally defeats the purpose of being a unique individual. Somehow teenagers think that, "Hey. I shop at Hot Topic, so I'm unique. I dye my hair purple, I'm so original." Yes, you and 50,000,000 other teenagers today. In otherwords, it's not unique, it's a trend, you're a follower... Wouldn't that then make you a 'prep'?
I don't really think anyone can be labeled. We're all different people, nothing can change that except ourselves.
Hey, guys, I have a crazy idea! Let's keep our hair its original color, not get any wierd piercings, and go shop at Abercrombie and Fitch. Golly, we won't look like anyone else! We'll totally be different! (Literally.)

Actually the real/true Goths and Punks dont go aound telling people what they are. If you see any one like that,they are just wannabes. Me and my friend,Cilla are true freaks. (half Punk/Half Goth) We're this,because of our personality. But there's this one girl who thinks she's a freak,simply because she likes LiNkiN Park and wrote freak on her hand. (Oh and she doesnt even know what it means) She's a wannabe just like the ones who go around telling people that theyre Goth or something. (Alot of them,like me friend,dont even know what a prep/Goth/Punk/freak is) I dont go around telling people Im a freak. I did it just now,but that doesnt count. And you also can't say that preps dont go around telling people theyre preps either. Ive seen alot of people in chatrooms that has the word Prep in it. And also,Goths/Punks/Freaks dont care what others think of them. So what if a Goth etc. has 'Goth4life' or whatever as a screen and and such? What do you want them to get 'cherrysandsoda'?? lolZ...
~~~~~~Heather,(Edward Furlong,Mike Shinoda,Chester Bennington,KidRock & Joe C. LOVER!!!!!! Linkin Park RULES!!!!!!)
^^^ Lisa, I completely agree. If someone bases their individuality on what they wear and the music they listen to, then that's just pathetic. In my opinion, someone is an individual if they do what *they* want and they do it for themselves and no one else. If you dress a certain way because you are trying to be different, then you are not an individual. Also, there is nothing wrong with wearing trendy clothes and listening to trendy music. Did it ever occur to these people that some of us out there might actually like the styles that are out nowadays? I mean, when grunge was in style, I refused to wear any of it. But now, I love shopping at Wet Seal and DEB, and I like all the flowery and feminine clothes that are in style now. I wear them because I like them. And I'm actually glad they are in style now. It makes it much easier to find the clothes you like when every store carries that style. Alright, I'm going off on a tangent now. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that you should do what you want, and not what other people want you to do. Don't let the stereotypes get to you.
<<<<and she owns the Blink-182 CD.>>>>
^^^Yes, I've told her that. I'm the biggest Blink-182 hater out there, possibly, but categorizing music is so subjective.
<<Me and my friend,Cilla are true freaks. (half Punk/Half Goth) We're this,because of our personality.>>
No offense, I really think you're great for being your own person, but you shouldn't label yourself. Not that your a poser or anything like that. You're Heather. There's only one of you. There only will be just one of you. In other words, don't be in any category. Place yourself in the Heather category, where no one else belongs but you. If you want to dress in a chicken suit, you can. But if you want to wear a pink flowered sundress the next day, that's perfect. Don't look in the mirror and think "I'm this," or "I'm that." Look in the mirror and say "I'm me." That's probably the most important thing I can tell you.
"Actually the real/true Goths and Punks dont go aound telling people what they are. If you see any one like that,they are just wannabes. Me and my friend,Cilla are true freaks. (half Punk/Half Goth) "
^^^ no offence but isnt that being hypocrittical? I mean you saying that realy Goth and Punks dont go around telling people they are ones and yet you go and tell everyone your half and half. It seems to me in most post you do your always saying how you are punk/goth and everything... I think everybody basically knows by now... and if they didnt know im sure you would tell. Sorry if im coming off rude or something it is just something that has been bugging me. One more thing who is to say what is realy punk and what isnt? Why does it matter? I think everyone needs to stop calling everybody posers and such and just let them dress how they like! And always remember.... BEING YOURSELF HAS NO LABEL!
^^^^^^ What you dont seem to understand is that,I was telling people anyone who cared,who I am. As in personality. I wasnt going to each and every person saying,"Did you know Im a freak?? Thats someone who is half punk and half goth btw,why dont you spread the word??" I also didnt make a screeen/user name GOTH FREAK girl (that was actually one of my friend's names) or anything like that. Im just being myself. If you dont like it fine. And the way that was said,I was thinking about how someone would just go up to someone and start saying that theyre this or that.
I dont think it matters. I don't care about being labeled, people do that. It's human nature to categorize things. People cling to those who have similar interests and people who are... like them. That's just the way life is. Stereotypes come with labels, but who cares. It's just a label, nobody says you have to live up to it. It doesn't bug me, or excite me to be placed in a category, I just am. I don't let it bother me or anything and I don't attention to other people's labels either. It just makes things easier.
Yeah, when people tell me I'm weird, I answer "No, I'm myself" and then they look at me oddly and mumble things under their breath. Hm. I wonder if they're admiring my clothes? I'm also really sick of people calling each other posers. I mean, who are you to be The Almighty Goth or The Almighty Punk to decide that they are not real "punk" /"goth" like *you* are. I'm not talking to anyone specific here, this is general. I feel like listing all the labels, which are not many: Goth Prep Punk Jock Geek Loser Why, it's like high school!
know what everybody needs to do more? have a sense of humor about yourself. read this: chojin.lfx.org/rossrant.htmli guess my advice is to figure out who you are and get on with it. i know who i am enouigh to quote the goo goo dolls: "don't it make you sad to know that life is more than who you are?" it makes me sad because i thought i was just starting to really understand myself, but sad or not, it's the truth and if you want a better chance at happiness i think it's important to get over cliques and menial teenage politics and whatever else is holding you back from what you want to be and do.
