At my school, about 60% of the ppl have braces. Whats up ? It doesn't seem like that many need to have there teeth fixed, does it ? Is it just me. It's as if it's becoming a trend. If it is, atleast I'm apart of it ! hehe

Trust me, it's not a trend. I don't know too many people going home to their parents and saying, "But Mom! Everyone has braces! They're only $4500 and a lot of pain! Can I get them too? Pretty please?"
Most people need braces. Though on the surface they might look okay, a big part of it is under your gums, in back teeth you can't really see, or a bite problem.

like lisa said, braces are definitely not a trend. i don't know of anyone who enjoys the pain of having them tightened and messed with. not to mention the hefty price. braces suck but they do look cute on some people.

I'd much rather go throgh the pain, cus in 6th grade 4 guys talked about me allllllllllllllll the time. They'd push me, and were so damn cruel cus i had a gap. Thats why I love my braces. I went to my mom asking for them cus of them. I didn't mean a real trend, it just seems like a lot of people have them.

I'M GETTING MINE OFF IN 2 MONTHS (PROBABLY)!!!! JOY TO THE WORLD! HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY DAY!
They aren't as bad as people make them sound...
...well...they really suck...
SO MANY people have them, it's crazy! I guess that now is the time to get straight teeth--middle school and high school. You don't see many people over high school age with braces.

I have also noticed that more and more people have been geeting braces but I'm sure that it has nothing to do with a "fashion" trend. I remember when I wanted to have braces even though my teeth are straight. I just thought they looked interesting.

I have to get them on this summer. I know, it sucks. But at least my teeth will be straight when I get them off(in, like, 2 years...). Anyhoo....does it make any difference when you kiss with braces? That's what I'm worried about...

Okay, GOOD! *whew*
What about 'french-kissing' or whatever. Is it the same with that too? God, I hope so.

^^ like she said above, kissing with braces really isn't any different. it can hurt a little bit if you're making out kinda rough (which is interesting.. yay for masochism, hehe)... but nah, other than that it's no different. you get used to having them really quickly. occasionally i'll knock my boyfriend's lip with my braces, or he'll hit my teeth... but it's not too bad. no worries

My favorite activity with braces was putting those stupid little rubber bands on those stupid little hooks. I have big hands, which turned this into a 20 minute project. Everytime I thought I secured one, "boink" it flew across the room. So I'd go with another one and it'd snap the inside of my mouth and "boink" Bonofasitch! Okay, I got it now. "Boink." Dammit! "Boink. "Bastard!" Boink! You @#%&*!
Then there's the pain of adjusted braces, know what I mean? It doesn't hurt that much compared to other things, but there's something about that kind of pain and where it is, that puts you on edge.

I don't think braces are a trend. They're to straighten teeth, and I wouldn't consider them anything more.
I'm getting my braces put on next Friday. I've been wearing my separators for my back teeth, both lower and upper, for about four days. I had blue ones put on, and because I'm such a wimp, I thought it hurt. I had four teeth taken out about two weeks ago, and I found that painful. The injections hurt a lot more than the actual removal of the teeth. I could only eat soup and liquids for awhile, because the anesthesia had worn off.
I'm getting braces because of a crossbite, and I'm supposed to wear them for eighteen months. I got off lightly, considering there are other people who get stuck with them for twice my time. I have retainers to wear for two years afterwards.
I don't think braces are a big deal. They'd be an expensive fad, but I think the after-result will be worth it. I'd have fun choosing out colors for them.
