Like someone said above, clothes seem to have become somewhat of a way to show off how much you spend on them. Here, surfie brands, such as Quiksilver or Roxy, are popular, and a branded top is, at the cheapest, about $80. Although I'm guilty of buying one or two of these overpriced items, I don't understand why it's such a big deal to wear the "right" things. Look at my clothes, I spend a fortune on them, and that makes me a better person! Please.

^^ agreed, only I never really bought anything overpriced. But seriously...I used to like Roxy, but then it got so popular and that's pretty much all the girls at my old school wear. They have Roxy shoes, shirts, pants, underwear *I see the labels...I don't go looking *,backpacks, stickers, all sortsa school supplies, everything. This one chick should be the Roxy postergirl. She ownes everything Roxy. I just think it's stupid. So my shirt doesn't say Roxy or A&F or AE on it...I didn't over pay for it and it's good quality. My sister gets a bunch of her clothes at thrift stores, and they last long. She got this really great fireman shirt for like $2. Opposed to the like $20/30 shirts at A&E. Of course my dislike for all those stores also prolly has to do with the fact that i don't like that 'preppy' style. And it annoys the hell outta me when someone is so ignorant as to say 'oh well you don't shop at A&E...you must be poor' grr... Ok I'm done with my rant of the day

Lol, that bit about the underwear made me laugh.
I understand the "poor" thing. I go to an all-girls' high school, where we were uniforms. Every term, we have a Mufti Day, when we are allowed to wear whatever we want. Sheesh, you should take a look - it's a rare opportunity to show off, and sure as hell, they do that. If I was wearing a plain crappy, old T-shirt, I'd probably be considered "poor" by a lot of the judgmental, brand-scrounging girls at school. But if I wore a plain crappy, old T-shirt with a brand on it, they'd think, "Oh, she shops at [insert shop name here]. She's rich."
The whole brand thing sucks.

A few things:
AE shirts are still under $30, and you can find many on sale for under $20.
Abercrombie IS expensive, and not just unless you are 'freaking poor or something'. There are lots of other stores that sell clothes for TONS less than Abercrombie, and are not only populated by super-poor people.
A&F shirts are NOT $20 max, I assure you.
To clarify my thoughts:
Abercrombie - not big on sheer shirts or pictures of nude models, but if I see something cute on sale I might get it.
AE - Although I pretty much never wear logo stuff, some of their clothes are quite tasteful, fit well, and are good prices when on sale.
Old Navy - Decent clothes at decent prices.Perhaps a little boring, but great for basics.
TJ Maxx - Most of it IS junk, but when you're patient you can find incredible prices. One girl, Saralin (who wears A&F and AE and is not at all poor) just got an adorable shirt there for about $7.

I hate Stitches, Sirens, Urban Behavior and all of those superskank stores. I don't really like old navy, it's too plain and smells bad (at least in Canada it does, when it used to be only American I liked it, it had better stuff then)

^ Hey, Stitches and Sirens are nooooot superskank. I have lots of cute shirts from Stitches. Not skanky at all. I'm not sure about Urban Behavior, though.

First off, my rating for these stores (1 being not so bad, 5 being bleh, I've seen better/this store is poop)
Debs-At a first glance you see some "ooh this looks nice.. clothes'' but when you actually take the time to look through--there's 5 minutes of your life you just wasted. Lol. Rating: 5
Old Navy-Yea they have some cheaper stuff, but bleh, to me their clothing is so dull and bland. Rating: 5
Tommy Hilfiger-(Not the clothes in Hect's but the actual store)Ugh man, some of his stuff is soo bleh and "same ol' same ol". I hate those damn shirts with the typical red, white, and blue logo. Or the shirts that are yellow, gray, white, or red, and have just "Tommy Hilfiger" on them. Shoot, I am not paying $58, $35 or however much most of his shirts costs. BUT..some of his denim jackets, jeans, denim dresses, and jumpsuits are awesome. Rating:3

As for Abercrombie, and American Eagle, I can't rate because I've never taken the time to go through there and probably never will.

how can u hate abercrombie?!?!?!?! ummm...whats the matter w/ u, unless ur like frekin poor then its not expensive and their clothes are anything but UGLY! thats the normal price for clothes and its not 50$ for a white shirt its more like 20 ^^ Um ya then I guess I'm poor since that's one of the main reasons I don't shop there. I must be really poor since I find old navy expensive at times........ And $20 for a white tee shirt that says AF on it is expensive since it took pennies for them to make that shirt I'm sorry It's a rip off. I have nothing against the store or anyone who shops there but it is rude and offensive to call people poor just because they can't afford $20 plain shirts and $70 pants. Ok back on topic now that I've cooled down after reading that.... I also can't stand Wal*Mart I Don't mind the ones that are out of town from here but the one by where I live is small and crowded and the people there are kinda obnoxious they are always the type of people that are yelling at their kids over little things and stuff but ya Actuallly I don't like the store in general
