May I offer a piece of advice? Don't use sunless tanners unless you know what you're doing! My friend turned her skin orange with one (and I'm still teasing her for it).

I don't really get it..
Girls at my school lay out all summer for hours at a time to make it look like they had so much fun, outside all summer, when really all they did was lay on some plastic lawnchairs at the pool, frizzling their skin.
It's not a priority for me-I would never take time out of my life to tan. I use sunscreen because I don't want to kill my skin.

Well, I have a naturally light tan too. But still I wouldn't sit out there and try to get darker. I read that it causes more breakouts and lord knows I don't want that! Ahahah.
P.S. Drink plenty of water for a healthy glow. Lol

I have always tanned really easily. Plus, this summer we got a pool, so I got pretty tan, without even trying. You are going to get UV rays no matter what you do, so why not just have fun? I mean, don't stay inside biting your nails all day, break lose! But, I have always wondered, why do people in Africa who work in the sun all day not get skin cancer, but African-American people have like 10x the skin cancer rate? I mean, the sun is worse there! I watched a show on it, and they were trying to figure out why, but I never saw the end..........

He-yah, Gabster, I have the same thing-two colors, glaring white and lobster red. I myself can't get those gosh darn newfangled self-tanning thingamabobbers to work, I look the same no matter how much I slather on..
Keista1, that's true, some people can't help getting a little tan, and that's okay, I guess, but remember-the sun spreads its cancer rays!

I'm so proud. Normally I don't get very tan, but this summer I have a really nice tan going - and yes, I did take care of my skin. I always put on sunscreen when I'm going to be in the sun all day. However, I've gotten a very nice color from hanging out @ lunch in the sun, going to camp, going to the beach, and field hockey practice. Although...now I have a really funky tan from field hockey, on my legs. Half of my shin is white, and then the rest of my legs are pretty dark. Stupid shin guards *shakes head*.

I'm naturally dark skined so it looks like i have a tan in the middle of winter. In the summer i get really dark without even trying I mean i'll go out side for like10 minutes, and come back in with a light tan It is weird. I hope i don't get skin cancer i use sunscreen but not all the time. accutally i forget most of the time.

I don't understand why tanned skin is so appealing. I suppose you could say I have naturally tanned skin (all year round) but I don't think that makes me... better looking or something dumb like that. That's just my colouring. So I guess because of that, I don't sit outside and purposely try to get a tan during the summer. I have a pool and I go swimming pretty often during the summer, so naturally I go a bit darker. But I don't focus on turning a darker colour.

I'm not much into tanning. My thing this summer was I wanted to get rid of the "farmer's tan" I had left over from last year. I am now all one color which is cool and I don't care if I'm pale or not.
And like someone said earlier, be REALLY careful with self-tanners. I had a friend who went orange and another one who actually got a little gold. It was interesting...

I don't think tanned skin looks all that good. There are a bunch of girls at my school who bake in tanning beds until their skin is brown. It looks really awful. And then they bleach their hair platinum blonde, which looks even worse. Why would you want to have such an unnatural look?
