Are tanning beds worth it? What kinds of self-tanners work the best? Is being tan "in" where you live? Any other special tips and tricks?

Tanning beds are definately not worth it! Tanning beds are like cancer in a box, they have even more harmful rays than actual sunshine does! I do, however use a self-tanner. I reccommend Neutragena's line of self-tanners because they are easier on your skin than some are. also when using a slef-tanner, be sure to only use a light coat on your elbows and knees, otherwise they'll look dirty. Also be sure to blend well and rub in, or else you could end up with fake looking orange streaks which are tacky to say the least!

I completely agree on tanning beds. Many of my friends are tanning for prom and I'm like....you know you are practically guaranteeing skin cancer, right? But they don't listen. Wrinkles at 30 or earlier is not exactly something I want to deal with. I did hear Neutragena has a new self-tanner that is supposed to be bronze and not orange. The only thing I hate about self-tanners is that you can't put them on your own back!

I honestly don't get the point of tanning beds. They turn you orange, it looks completely fake. Most people can tell you don't have a real tan when you're dark orange/brown in January.
I do tan in the sun, occasionally. I make sure to put on suntan lotion and keep my skin moisturized. A light, healthy, natural tan is fine. Anything too harsh, and you're begging for skin cancer.

My brothers girlfriend goes to the tanning beds, and she lookes SO fake! Her skin is almost orange it's so tan. Everytime I see her, I wonder how much longer it will take before she gets cancer.
I never want to go to a Tanning Bed. I really don't see the point. I know some people that hardly go, and that's fine. As long as your not going like-once a week, then it's probably fine.
I've never tried the self-tanning things. Does anyone know some really good ones that won't make my skin all orangey and yucky??

Ha, I don't really like the self-tanning lotion. I mean, I'd like to try some someday. But knowing me, I'm most likely to screw something up. In the summer, I like to go and lay out in the sun with my V8 Splash. I use sunscreen for protection. My mom use to go to tanning beds. As long as you don't overdo it, I see nothing wrong with it. Though I don't plan on going to one anytime soon.
My mom also uses a Clinique self-tanner or a Neutrogena one. I think either one looks good if you use it correctly.

This might sound a tad bit silly but I don't really like tans overall. My skin is naturally lightly tanned and I completely dislike it. Actually, right now, I'm hoping to get one of Givenchy's skin lightening products...it's supposed to make your skin lighter and change the colour of your melanin. On some people, tan looks gorgeous, but I prefer the soft look of rosy skin.

I've never been tan. I just don't really care what color my skin is, so I see no purpose in it. My friend goes to the tanning beds at least once a week. Not gonna surprise me if she gets skin cancer. Also when she gets older, her skin is gonna look like leather. Oh yeah, that's real attractive...

<<A light, healthy, natural tan is fine>> Actually, even a light tan is caused by UV rays which mutate your DNA.

Tanning is one of the things in the world that I'm hopelessly clueless about. I just don't get it...almost every girl (I barely ever hear guys say it.) I know goes tanning, and will more than likely have skin cancer by the time they're 20, or claims to "need" a tan or that she's too pale. I'm apparently the only girl in my school that's perfectly content being pale. Aren't we supposed to be happy with what we're given, or something like that? I mean if they want to tan that's wonderful, I just don't understand the obession with it.

I know a girl on my class who goes [to the tanning beds] at least every other day. And, I mean, she goes for like 15-20 minutes at a time. I mean, the tan looks good on her and everything...but she's going to regret it when she gets older. Yeesh.

Unless you lock yourself in your basement for all eternity, you're probably going to end up getting a light tan in the summer, regardless of the sunscreen you wear. I actually know girls who ENJOY getting sunburned because it eventually gives their skin color (yeah, red, and then it bubbles and peels off).
<<I mean, the tan looks good on her and everything...but she's going to regret it when she gets older.>>
I don't really think it looks good in January paired with a sweater and puffy jacket. Unless you were on vacation, pretty much the only good excuse, I think it looks incredibly stupid.

I still think it looks good on her. She just one of those girls who can look good anytime and in anything. Man, I hate that. But I guess that's your opinion. ;D

Now that I think about it, I know a girl like that too. Perfect skin, hair, makeup, body. Great clothes that cling to her every curve perfectly. I guess I'm just jealous, heh. Even if she does look good, her puffy coat and sweater won't look good paired with wrinkles and age spots!

^^I second that. Wrinkles, Age spots, and skin cancer. For what price? I don't think having a tan necessarily makes anyone much better looking than normal. Maybe a little, but they don't need to take it to extremes.
