Anyone have one? Or two? Or three? Or more? Or want to get one? I have one on my right shoulder... It's a cat, and the guy who did it said it was his smallest black and grey piece ever... Pretty nifty, I thought. And I like the thought of it being there forever. Like my own cat that will never go away. It's kind of reassuring in a weird way.

^^That sounds really cute, I've never heard of a cat tattoo. I personally would not get a tattoo because a) I'm 14, b) I don't think I could commit to having something marking my skin forever, and c) when you're old, it gets saggy and wrinkly and blueish with your skin, so I don't really want that!

My boyfriend has 2 tattoos, a pentacle on his right shoulder, which he's had for a couple years, and a lightning bolt in a green mist. He just got that like a week ago (I haven't seen it yet).
As for me...I'm think about getting a tattoo after I turn 18 in a couple months. I'm not completely sure on what I want yet...I know I want something small though. Maybe something like a butterfly.

On the lower...I mean lower right side of my tummy, I want a small chinese symbol for 'Love' and then a rose entwined in it. Sounds cute.

I want a tattoo. My sis has 2, one armband that's really cool * I can't really explain it* and one on her belly around her bellybutton. It's like sun rays coming out from it, only the rays are really cool and kinda swirly. It shows off her pierced bellybutton I want something like my name in a different language...maybe Arabic *maybe I shouldn't say that...* or Chinese or something. Or maybe something else...I have no idea other then I know I want one

I don't really like to see a person with all these tatoos on his arms and back, but I like them if you just have a small one that means something to you on a special place. My sis has on under her big toe of a peace sign. I think that is cool, because it's meaningful.

lol alright, tattoos are great and i've been drawing up some ideas for stuff i'll give a year of thought now that i'm eighteen and don't need permission, but the two things i've read here are the two things that make me cringe a little. nothing personal, and i'm sure your tattoos are really cute (the cat sounds great) but the two things are: 1. cultural appropriation (culture vulturing) and 2. small tattoos for the sake of having a tattoo if you get a chinese or indian or inuit or african or hindu or whatever other sort of cultural symbol, just make sure you know all the meanings that go along with it. for example, if you got the word "fylo" tattood because it's greek for love, you might not know it means a specific kind of love, because there are three different words for love in greek. some people think it's wrong to take someone else's symbol in ignorance of the complete meaning, and after all, the only way to understand a culture fully is on its own terms. there's a lot to consider. personally, i would only get a tattoo which i designed myself, something abstract (as opposed to names or symbols because i outgrow myself quickly), or something the tat artist designed within my guidelines and which i approved of. as an aside, i think it's important to spend a while thinking about placement and pros and cons of the placement (fattier tissue hurts less, if you don't like pain, concerning public skin, etc). enough of my rambling. i'm not trying to sound pretentious or consciously putting anybody down. i'm just mentioning some things i think anyone considering getting a tattoo should give some thought and care. anywho, happy inking

i think tats can be cool. i really like the full back ones - they're sexy, powerful looking. my brother has somewhere around five tattoos right now, but he's at the point where he has a few, but he needs more for them to look good. anyone know what i mean? they look oddly spread out. he should get sleeves, or more on his back. hmm... my parents would love that i, however, don't see myself ever getting a tattoo. no particular reason. not afraid the pain, i just don't think i'm the right kind of person for one *shrugs*

My cousin has a really cool one on her lower back. It's black wings...pretty awesome, if you ask me. I'd like to get a small tattoo or a couple small ones when I turn 18 maybe. Like maybe on the lower right side of my back...some type of symbol for love or truth...I haven't quite figured out what yet, but I've been thinking of a few ideas.

I think tats give off a "tough" look, and I'm just not one for a permanent (sp?) tatoo... I wear fakies all the time... right now I have one of a rose with a sword going thru it...

I got a tattoo on my upper back almost a month ago. Me and 2 of my best friends got together and all got kanji (Japanese) symbols for "friends" on our backs. At first it REALLY hurt, but it doesn't any more, and it looks really cool. Here is a pic:

haha. ignore my post up there about how i didn't think i'd ever get a tattoo.
a few weeks ago when i was undressing to take a shower, i envisioned the word "hurt" written in cursive on my right hip. i haven't been able to get the image outo f my head since. i've drawn what i want my tattoo to look like, and i'm set on getting it after i turn eighteen. i hadn't even given it prior thoguht, but i very randomly imagined it and now i can't picture myself NOT having it. it's pretty crazy. so in a year or so, i'll get that done.
i've also been playing around with the idea of getting something done on my back... possibly leopard spots. but that all depends on how my first tattooing experience goes. i'm also thinking of getting "healed" tattoo'd on me somewhere, in the same cursive that i'd get "hurt". both would be really symbolic. if i had a larger chest, i'd get "healed" tattooed curver under one of my breasts. but alas, i'm too flat for that.

Just a warning for those who are wanting kanji tattoos: MAKE SURE THAT IT MEANS WHAT YOU WANT IT TO MEAN! I've heard stories of one girl who had something like "love" or "hate" or one of those other descriptions tattooed on her, then she had a Chinese exchange student over and she showed the girl, and the girl said, "Ah, spring!" I also heard of another guy who had Chinese characters tattooed and they ended up meaning something to the effect of "You don't know what this means because you can't read it", when he wanted it to say something different altogether! So... end of warning! ;D haha. ignore my post up there about how i didn't think i'd ever get a tattoo.LOL It's always the ones who thought they'd never get it done, who end up wanting to get it done. a few weeks ago when i was undressing to take a shower, i envisioned the word "hurt" written in cursive on my right hip. i haven't been able to get the image outo f my head since. i've drawn what i want my tattoo to look like, and i'm set on getting it after i turn eighteen. i hadn't even given it prior thoguht, but i very randomly imagined it and now i can't picture myself NOT having it. it's pretty crazy. so in a year or so, i'll get that done.Good for you! That sounds like a good idea, and if you can't picture yourself not having it, then that makes it even better. It's also probably a good thing that you have another year, just to make sure. i've also been playing around with the idea of getting something done on my back... possibly leopard spots. but that all depends on how my first tattooing experience goes. i'm also thinking of getting "healed" tattoo'd on me somewhere, in the same cursive that i'd get "hurt". both would be really symbolic. if i had a larger chest, i'd get "healed" tattooed curver under one of my breasts. but alas, i'm too flat for that. I don't know if you'll like this idea or not, but why not get 'healed' on your left hip? Or not. LOL As for the experience, I think you'll like it. Mine was sort of "Zen" in a way, and I ended up in a trance like state, if you'll believe it. My mom on the other hand almost fell asleep and said it felt like a massage! But then there are other people who I've heard of who screamed and cried and were (from what I understand) real babies about it. Honestly, if you want it badly enough, the pain (or whatever you want to call it, it wasn't bad at all) is worth it for a lifetime of art. I've been thinking about getting my foot tattooed, with a bunch of stars and planets and the like, starting on my foot and wrapping around my ankle. I've also been toying with the idea of getting some "major" work done on my back, like scenes of the ocean, mountains, and forest, with a starry sky above it (I live in Oregon, so that is kind of where that idea spawns from, we have everything within a matter of miles, and I've always felt at home here, no matter how stupid our local government is). It could take a lot to blend it in and make it flow, but I think it could turn out rather nice if done right.
