Ha! Made you look. ;D
What is it about us, that when told not to do something, we do it anyway? It can be anything. Like being told to stay away from the cookie jar. Well the first thing you crave is a cookie, and your mind knows they're there. Or how about the speed limit, do you push it just a bit, then slam on the brakes when you realize there's a police car hiding in the bushes? What is it about breaking the law, being disobedient, or is there something deeper going on there with the mind. A need for control, or to test the boundaries of WHY we shouldn't do something?
What say you? And don't be surprised if this thread goes all over the place.

/\ Does somebody like Pink Floyd? Is it reverse psychology, or is it something deeper? Does the command not to do something spark some kind of curiosity in us. We are a curious creature by nature and it either gets us into trouble, or opens doors to discovery. We are told not to look at the accident on the freeway and that's the first thing we turn our heads to. We are told not to eat that last bit o' the submarine sandwich and our brains seem to lock onto that sucker.

....I really think it's just that we know if you hadn't wanted us to read it, you wouldn't have posted it.

But why? Why would someone read or do something they are told not to do?

Because you obviously DID want us to, in this example.

^Which is his point exactly. You were told NOT to read it, yet you did. So, what made you read it? Like when someone says "Don't look!" You automatically look in that direction anyways...It sorta is like reverse pyscology I guess, por se. I'm not sure though, a good topic to ponder though...

Not really. If someone says "Don't look!" they oviously just don't want you to, whereas if someone makes a thread, they obviously want other people to read it.

I'm not trying to start something, I think the point of this thread was for us to think. That is it.....

No one is trying to start anything, the purpose of this thread is to discuss, maybe philospocially, why we do what we do. I got the idea for this thread from Moon Cafe and imported it here. Much is being talked about such as opening a Pandora's Box, or the origination of sin, or just looking at or doing something you've been told not to. Of course I want people to read this ;)because I want to spark some creative debate or discussion. It's all good.

Good thread. Who knows? I used to push it a little when it came to the speed limit. It was like a 25 speed zone one a 2-way road with a passing zone every once in awhile..and i was going way faster than 25 and all of a sudden when I came around this curve there's were all these cars stopped at the bridge and I had to quickly slam on the breaks. Man did that wake me up out of my stupidity! aha
We all just want what we can't have. Such as if someone found out that the person they liked wasn't interested in them some people will still try hard to get their attention/or change their minds.
