i am, but i usually just say i'm agnostic. i've considered myself an atheist for as long as i can remember. well, at least as long as i could rationally and logically think about this sort of thing. my family isn't very religious. everyone came from really diverse backgrounds, so religion was kinda left out in the open for everyone and you could do your own thing. i don't think i really knew anything about any religion until i was about 5 because that's when kids at school started asking me things like what church i went to. i mean, i knew of different religions, but i didn't know about any of them. i never considered myself anything before that. i eventually started to read about different religions on my own. i wouldn't say converted or anything like that though.

I'm not an atheist, but it annoys me when people perceive it as evil. I have more respect for someone who doesn't believe in God and is a good person, rather than someone who is supposedly religious and is a total jerk. And trust me, there are so many people like that who think that going to church every week is a ticket to heaven...

I used to be an Atheist but I am now a Christian. Life is better for me now I have recognised God'd existance and allowed him into my life.
Your right, going to Church every week isn't a ticket to Heaven but it helps. The true ticket to heaven is to ask for forgiveness and confess your sins.

I'm not an Athiest but I've always been interested in Athiesm. Maybe it's because I don't understand many of the concepts. How do you explain your exisistance on Earth? I would really be interested in your answers.

I'm agnostic. Some people say that it's the same as atheism, but there is a big difference. Atheists believe that there is no god. Agnostics don't believe in anything. They are open to the idea that something out there may exist, but they don't have any specific beliefs about it. My feeling about religion is that I don't know what's out there, and neither does anyone else. I personally cannot see the point in devoting my life to a religion that most likely is not correct about what happens after death (because there are many religions, and only one, or possible none, are true). However, I see nothing wrong with being religious. If you believe in god, that's great. But I just don't believe in it. That's how I feel, and I can't make myself believe in god. I don't think that your beliefs of something as unknown as religion can really be controlled.

Okay, you're going to think I'm really stupid for saying this, but I've been wondering this for a while.
If you're an Atheist, do you still say "God Bless You" when someone sneezes?

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies!
Now to answer some questions: [glow=red,2,300]Misty-[/glow] This is a hard question. You asked about how atheists explain their existance, and many other aspects of life without beleiving in god. Atheism, unlike orginized religions do not have specific answers to these type of questions. Many Atheists beleive different things, and have a whole variety of answers. I believe in the scientifical answer: we all started from a single cell, and eventually evolved into more complicated species. Other Atheists may not agree with that though, it is a personal thing.
[glow=red,2,300]Lisa-[/glow] You asked if Atheist still say "God Bless you" when some one sneezes. I think that, again, that is a personal thing. I do not but I say "Oh my God" even though I do not beleive in the existance of god. So it depends on the person.
Thanks again for the replies!

^^^ Same here. I mean, I say "oh my god" but I don't say "god bless you". It's just a phrase. It doesn't mean I believe in god. Besides, isn't it just as bad for Christians to say it. I mean, doesn't one of the 10 commandments state "thou shall not use god's name in vain" or something like that? So when you look at it, we're all "wrong" for saying it. LOL.

Yes, it's wrong to say God's name in vain, even if it's "Oh My God!" Reason is, usually has nothing to do with Him. But we're so used to it, we don't think it's a problem.
But to the agnostics and atheists here, do you not consider yourself to be religious too? You follow a belief system, a set of rules, a doctrine of what you beleive is right, wrong, or indifferent. What say you?

^^^ I agree... If you are Atheist or Agnostic, you have chosen not to believe in God, or have decided you just don't know, for example. That is making a pretty definate decision and to say you're an Atheist is to label yourself like a Christian might.

^ it's not religion in the same sense since agnostics and atheists don't have a belief in or believe in the existence of a particular deity, if any. you would of course have your own personal beliefs, but they're not going to be directly based on specific beliefs held by those of any certain religion. they may be similar, but the basis is not centered on a religion such as christianity or hinduism, etc.
