Where do you stand on this issue? There is escalating violence and its seems there is really nothing that anybody can or will do. This issue very hot in people's minds and in reality.
I believe that the need for a Palestinian state is necesary and inevitable in the future. I am personally outraged at Israel's breach of international law by putting settlements on occupied lands. But I do not think Palestinians are getting their voices heard the right way through violence. In realitly though, what other options do they have? They have sticks and stones and the Israelis have tanks. I'm really uncertain in my opinions on this issue, and I think that both sides have blood on their hands.

Well today there was a horrible terrorist attack in Israel during the Jewish holy time of Passover. Apparently a man strapped with explosives entered a hotel and killed 18 and injured over 100. This is one of the most deadly attacks since the uprising started last year.

I agree with you pettyluv (strange huh? ;D ), but I must say that the Us should STAY OUT of this conflict and not take the sides of Israel, which has better weapons, and which also broke the international agreements. What would you think if you were in the situation palestina was? If you had people coming into California and saying 'this state is now mine, I live here, you americans go away' and then expanding to the rest of your country telling you all to go away? I wouldn't be very happy. I think they should both live toghether in peace in the same place, and that there shouldn't be an Israel state, but I dunno.... I am very confused. Maybe it is not the right solution either.

I would definately prefer it if America stayed loyal to both sides... I don't find a problem particularly in them wanting there to be peace, but not siding with the Israelis. Both sides are just as bad as each other, and are just as justified for the land. Jews want it, Muslims want it, and there's a small voice out there of the Christians who rightfully would like it as well (though Christianity isn't so much based around promises of a material land, like Judaism). Sighs... I just wish it would be sorted out. I DO side for the Arabs - there are many Arab Christians as well as Muslims (though I don't think they're doing the fundamentalist suicide bombings) - at this current moment, but I'd rather not side with anyone. Then again, I don't believe they'll ever be truly peace.

In today's papers it reported of President Bush asking strongly for peace in the Middle East. However, one paper, the Mirror (http://www.mirror.co.uk) suggested that it was hypocritical of Bush to ask for peace when he was planning in some shape or form, an attack of Iraq. This is probably not true, but should be something to discuss.

As long as Isreal is there, the fighting and tension between it and Palestine will continue.
As for Bush being hypocritical, it's the rest of the world that wants us to step in there and get the two to stop the fighting. After which I don't want to hear about how we keep sticking our noses in where it belongs. We're told to take care of it, then when we do, ten million posts, articles and commentaries fly around saying the US has got to stop its meddling in other countries' affairs. I doan git it.

The US are hypocrits. Almost as bad as Israel but not quite. Bush asking for the Middle East violence to stop? He can't even control affairs in his own country nor can he keep track of his stupid and meaningless actions. Lets not forget who kept fueling Israel and also supported their actions. <br> I am sick of Israel's presence in Palestine. There are many rallies being held in my location and I am attending a few of them to support my brothers and sisters (Palestinians). We will reclaim all our land.

is the west bank a property of Isreal or Palestine? I can't figure it out.
As for recent news, I couldn't believe that a suicide bomber went into a VERY holy place (the inn where jesus was born i think) and well, bombed himself. That made me realize that the fighting has got to stop or lives of people that are already horrible could get WORSE. It is so sad to hear all the news happening there.
anyways, i hope for peace throughout the world!!

I can handle the Israel-Palestini conflict just about, but when they start bombing places that are sacred to my religion and not really sacred to either of theirs, I get quite angry.

I'm just wondering why everybody's so upset about Israel attacking the Palestinians because there were 'suicide attacks' in Israel, when the USA is doing the exact same thing?? (I don't think the USA or Israel should do this, by the way) I know that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been going on much longer and that there's much more behind it, but why should the USA control all the actions of Israel? The USA started a war after one suicide attack, so then why do they think Israel doesn't have the right to do the same thing?

^Why should Israel start a war because of suicide bombers? They say their fighting for their land when its not even theirs! I don't agree with the suicide bombers but they don't have any other choice. Palestinian women and girls are being raped daily by the Israeli soldiers. Palestinian families are being forced out of their homes and humiliated. They are being MURDERED! What are we doing about it? Siding with the Israelis?

The Palestinians aren't little angels themselves my dear. It seems to me that you do not even recognize Israel's right to exist, if you think that you are definitely living in the past. No one is going to get all the land, so when you say that the Palestinians will get all the land back, it makes you seem foolish. There is atrocious behavior going on in each side. Both states have a right to exist.
Arafat has to go, he has been the leader of the Palestinians for a long time and has hardly accomplished much. Arafat is a terrorists and I do not think that he wants peace, because it is within turmoil that he thrives. There must be a leader that will seek peace and engage in reform, prisons with revolving doors in the back will not do anymore. He has no control over his people and has outlived his usefulness. Ariel Sharon, in all reality is not much better, if there is to be peace there must be moderate leaders on both sides.
We cannot leave Israel out to dry either. They are our ally, and they are in a strategic location, also they are the only democratic state in the region.
I do not consider President Bush a hypocrite in his actions. There are grave differences between the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict and the US War on Terror. The US Armed Forces are not attempting to be an occupying force in Afghanistan, where Israel is occupying cities. Today the President Bush and British PM Tony Blair called for an eventual Palestinian state. Bush also expressed his wish for Israel to leave the cities most recently occupied.
In the domestic front, I do not see your qualms with President Bush, I think he is doing a fine job as a wartime President.
