Ugh. I HATE then with a passion. They are so annoying. I have them on the sides of my butt and I'm getting more and more self-consious about them everyday. Is there any way to get rid of them or try to make them more un-noticable? Thanks!

Your skin is usually fairly elastic, but when you grow or gain weight quickly, like during puberty or pregnancy, you may get fine lines on your body called stretch marks. Stretch marks occur when the tissue under your skin tears from rapid growth or stretching. When the skin is over-stretched, it produces too much collagen, which can form the 'scars' called stretch marks.
Stretch marks often show up on places like your breasts, thighs, hips, and your backside. Most girls and women have them, they are common.
It's not only girls - guys can get stretch marks, too. Guys and girls who are body builders are more prone to getting them because of the rapid body changes that body building can produce. Obesity can also lead to stretch marks.
At first, stretch marks may show up as reddish or purplish lines, but they often will turn lighter (whitish or flesh-colored) and almost disappear over time. Your stretch marks will usually fade and become less noticeable over time.
Although there are tons of products on the market that claim to eliminate stretch marks, the truth is you can't make them go away without the use of a form of plastic surgery called microdermabrasion. If you are concerned about your stretch marks, talk to a dermatologist.

i know i'm very alone in this viewpoint, lol. but i'm sort of proud of my stretchmarks. they're battle scars from a battle i fought for a long time. in middle school, i was pretty chunky. i got made fun of for it. i hated it. i finally decided to make a change, and i lost nearly 50 lbs... and because of that, i have stretchmarks on my lower hips/back/butt. but they're there as proof of my hardwork and a reminder that i have a lot of self control.

I have them all over my back, from when I was developing breasts. It was a gradual change, but the lines on back are very noticable. This is why I wouldn't wear a bikini (even if I did have the body for it). In the locker room I get comments, "Did your cat scratch you?", "What happened to your back?" But my clothes fit well, and I have more important things to be worried about.

I have a looot of them on my hips to upper backside. I used to have them under my breasts, but those are gone now. I haven't been overweight, they're just there, but I can tell you that they DO fade and become less and less noticeable with time. I try not to let it bother me too much because, hey... you just can't change some things.

I have them on my breasts and hips, not because I've gained weight but because I've grown and lot and quickly, and gained a more womanly figure.
I guess they'll just go... I heard putting Vitamin E cream on them was good for it.

I still have some on the sides of my hips (or butt...whatever). They're fading a little, so I don't have as much as before...but they're still there. I'm not as annoyed with them as much. I barely even think about them. ;D

I have most of mine on my inner thighs. They've never really bothered me except when I first got them (around when I was 11) because I didn't know what they are. Now they're basically the same colour as my skin and as weird as it sounds, I like the feel of them...lol. I also have a couple faint ones on my hips, but I could care less.

I HATE getting stretch marks too. They are sooooo annoying! I have alot of them on my thighs. Ugh, and I can't get rid of them, except to gradually "work it off" by exercising on the treadmill.

like spazmatikal said, stretchmarks after losing weight are like thin parallel little battlescars. i'm so proud of her for losing as much weight as she did; i know weight loss changed her life. she had a personal goal, a kind of war with herself, and media and society aside, she won her war and she looks great and i love the way i feel like i'm sharing in her victory when i run my hand along her hip and feel those little stutters in an otherwise very fluid motion. this to say, i think if you lost weight but still have stretch marks, treasure them.

I have stretch marks on my inner thighs and hips. I'm not proud of them though, because mine are from gaining a lot of weight. It is a relief though to know that I'm not the only fourteen year old with them. ;D
