I'm going to try to make a long story short. This situation involves my best friend "Michelle". She prefers me not use her real name.
Michelle is "depressed" because she is single. However, she won't date a guy unless he looks like the jrock star Gackt. To show an example of what I mean.. this is a picture.

The pic on the left side is of him.. with the reddish brown hair.
I asked her if she found a great cute guy who adored her, and would treat her like a queen.. but didn't look just like Gackt.. would she give him a chance.. she said no.
She told me that I shouldn't be doing this with her, and let her find her "Gackt", but I am trying to help her. I don't want her to be depressed over something that's so self instigated because sometimes I feel like slapping the crap out of her over this.
The last time we hung out she was all mopey and she has NOTHING to be depressed about. This girl lives in a fancy house, goes to a fancy school, has her own nice bedroom, has fancy clothes, have a ton of friends, has two parents who are still together who love her, and has tons of guys who like her.. but of course they don't look like Gackt so she doesn't give any of them the time or day.
And I'm coming from myself who doesn't have all the advantages she does, yet she takes it all for granted just because she's not with a Gackt-wannabe.
She told me her other friends told her it's okay to be looking for a guy who looks just like Gackt and rejecting everybody else, but I think she's doing herself more harm than good. She's looking for a 1 in a billion type guy.. and she's not even considering a fact like you know.. a PERSONALITY.. It's all about looking like gackt, looking like Gackt. It's driving me insane.
If your friend said to you "I hate being single do you know any guys who look just like this *insert gackt pic*.. and you said "Not like him, but I know some cute guys who would like you" and then she doesn't give them a chance.. how would you react? Would you let her mope over this? Would you try to reason with her, and have her open her heart so to speak with more diversity?
I really care about her, she's my only friend here..and I don't want her to hurt herself. So I'm trying to be as nice as possible and give her examples of situations but it always leads to "I only want gackt I only want gackt".. I need help here.. am I the one in the wrong position?
I know everybody has their preference for opinions like hair color, eye color, skin tone, body shape, lips, and stuff like that.. but is it realistic to have the preference down to a tee of one specific lookalike to a celebrity?
