Standing up for too long can cause fainting. But it could also be a sign of something more serious. You should definitely see a doctor ASAP.

I'd have to agree with Sarah121. It sounds quite important...you should see a doctor as soon as possible. I hope you're okay! ;D

I passed out once and I hit my head on the window sill and started shaking like I was having a sizure(sp?) and then my lips were moving like I was trying to say something.Thats what my parents told me, so I went to the doctors and they said that it was a sleeping spell and that sometimes your body will just have a spazzem(sp?) and your brain doesn't know what to do so you faint and start to shake, that could be it but you still need to see a doctor ASAP!

I remember that I passed out in school once when we were getting our shots. I think I might have been allergic to something that was in the liquid.
To answer your question, I often feel light headed and dizzy when I stand for a long period of time but I never actually passed out because of this. Use the advice given to you. See a doctor.

I passed out once from standing up for too long, on the first day of work experience last year. Really embarrassing. I fainted at the airport in LA because I hadn't eaten or slept for 15 hours, and once in choir as well because it was really stuffy. Those two were a long time ago though.

I passed out 3 years ago in school. I remember the teacher telling me to hand papers out to people and I went to give the extras back to her and I say all these little dots and she looked over at me and I said "I don't feel-" and then I just remember waking up on the floor and the teacher calling the nurse. She said I was as white as a ghost & then I remember she lifted me up a little and put a bookbag under my head. Then she asked me if I wanted to try and walk to the nurses office with two other people so me, not knowing what was going on, must have said yes because I was walking again with the two people and then I fell again but I didn't pass out..I guess I just lost my balance because I still saw those little dots. But then another teacher came out of his class room and I thought maybe he would help me because I was laying on the ground but he looked at me and slammed his door shut. Then I went to the doctors and they said it could just be a once and done thing but I'm still getting lightheaded off and on and see dots off and on and I had lots of blood work done, MRIs and heart tests but nothing showed. The doctors said that I have a little, tiny cyst deep in my brain but that can't be causing it. And now doctors are saying it's migranes and oocular vestibular problems...so I think I'll agree with them. Now I just can't have nurtisweet or diet coke..chocolate..all the good stuff. But if it'll help, I'm willing to give it up.
